Micro mouse is a short but tough platform game where you simply have to collect the Phox tokens and touch the end of level sign post (marked '!')

The best way to play the game is to accept that you're going to get killed an awful lot. Try to memorize where the Spiders are falling from, they don't fall at random. There are small invisible detectors which you might be able to avoid if you learn where they are. The Mini mitches (the green dudes) don't spawn.

Created for round 1 of Peblo's competition.

It uses the same engine as Lil' pirate which i edited a bit and managed to cut out a huge amount of uneeded events and graphics (to get the mfa's filesize down from 812k to around 190k)

Note. For anybody who thinks the falling spiders are bad level design.
on one hand i agree that its very frustrating because they're everywhere and rally hard to avoid.
But on the other hand i made the game short with the intention of allowing people to play it again and improve their scores but remembering where the spiders fall from.

Making it blatantly obvious kinda leaves less room for improved play.

Pretty good platformer.
There are some glitches related to the fact that the collision between Micro Mouse and other objects such as the "!"-sign can occur after the mouse's death.

I recommend that you either add a "NOT-animation playing", "variable/flag" or "order to another layer" event to fix this.

More variation in enemies, traps and interaction with environment wouldn't have hurt.

I got 33 "terrible".

Well i knew about the bug from really early on. I just thought it might come in handy if i wanted to make a level that was otherwise impossible.
Hmm i think i'll add the death ratings to the description.

Very nice graphics and fun/"cute" music. Also, the falling spiders felt kinda' random. (even though i know they're not)

There's a strange bug that slows down the game when you press space...?

Can't really rate it yet, is it finished?

It was a cute platformer with a pretty nice engine, but the spiders put me off at the 2nd level after killing me for the 1 000 000:th time. And it was kinda odd (pathmovement?)how the soldiers moved in level 2. Zig-zag.. I'm gonna go try this out again so I can rate it properly!

Tom, the point is, quite obviously if you ask me, to collect all the little round black thigs with Phox's symbol on them and get to the flag. A basic platformer concept.

What gives the game something extra is that it has the element of being really hard, and that it is how many times you died that counts as your score (not a uniqe concept, but it's something).

Instead of being sorry, you should try to say what you didn't like about it and what you think he should do to change that. Thus the risk of upsetting the developer is minimal and you don't have to ask for forgivness. Most developers are actually grateful as long as anyone takes the time to try their creations.

@ Toxic Avenger, it's finished, just really short. The space thing is a debug feature that sets the frame rate to 10. I forgot to remove it.

@ Mr_Tom, Well, if you didn't like it you didn't like it. You don't have to apologize for it lol. Thanks for the comment. I guess the point of the game is just that it was fun to make and fun to play (hopefully)

@ Eternal Entertainment, I don't use path movement! how dare you! </joke>
You're supposed to memorize where they fall from. It's not random, there are invisible 16x16 detector objects.

@Zezard.. well firstly by 'i dont know what the point of this game is' i mean 'what is the point of the existence of this game'

I think really I just don't like it when yet another really basic performer is released and gives nothing new but what has been seen thousands of times.. and isn't even particularly good. That is why i found it hard to make suggestions on improvements cos its the essence of the whole game itself which i don't like, so my suggestion for improvement would be- don't make this game .

I know its for a compo and thus you don't have long to make it, but if you want to win i'd really suggest trying to do something more innovative than a short basic platform game.

p.s. im REALLY sorry! please don't hate me, I love you really.

I made it because i enjoy making games. Thats the point I guess. Hopefully someone will enjoy playing it.

I didnt care for this game either. I expected better from a guy with as much talent as AndyUk.

Its the type of game you play for about five minutes before it heads into the recycle bin. Very frustrating and unrewarding.

..and anyway, it just happens that the game im working on will take a little longer than 5 mins to make.

I can see that some effort has gone into it, what with the custom music and stuff. Nothing wrong with it (apart from the deaths from the spiders, which I presume you can only avoid having played the game through before, which is bad game design) but I can't see any reason for people wanting to play it. There isn't anything which makes this stand out from the other games and because of that I'm going to give it 2 stars.

Custom music? nah i just grabbed a remixed Mod of the Flimbo's quest title screen.

I'm starting to think i did make those spider too hard to avoid.
