New Year's Eve, 2111. The members of RUSH have defied natural science and through some milk of paradise and honeydew have willed themselves to live upwards of 160 years old, in anticipation of the year that their stellar "2112" album was named for. Everyone expects them to play 2112 in its entirety for Dick Clark's Rockin' Eve, but virtuoso drummer Neil Peart has a different plan..

Hours before the show, Neil announces to bandmates Geddy and Alex that he wants to finally play their lost epic "The Camera Eye", as a show of thanks for the almost 200 years of support from their fans. Horrified, Geddy and Alex attempt to lock Neil backstage and teleport his giant piece drumset into the icy caves of Xanadu. Never more shall they return! Little do they know the evil plans of the Portnoybot 1000 will turn everything they all know upside down!

Can Neil Peart escape his prison and travel to the Icy caves of Xanadu to assemble his drumset again? Will he be able to do it in time for Dick Clark's Rockin' Eve show? Can he thwart the Portnoybot 1000 and save Geddy and Alex from his mad overplaying? Will The Camera Eye ever be played live??

Find out, in..

Neil Peart: Mission- The Camera Eye!

NOTE: These screenshots aren't exactly extremely recent, but they're close enough. Enjoy!

Do not adjust your sets. I made a game that's easy and the story is like 60% of the game. Woo hah!

i think theres a problem with your keyboard stuff.
dialogue continues by itself. its like the key keeps pressing by itself. and my keyboard keys dont stick.

i can't read anything lol.

same with the controls text. i try to see what the controls are but it goes away like 1 second back to the menu.

it looks good tho

It's supposed to play out by itself, all you have to do is watch. If you press a button it'll get to the end of that paragraph quickly and then advance to the next one in a second or two.

hmm. i see.

it goes a bit too fast. i can get the first few words or so but it proceeds to the next paragraph almost immediatly after the current one is done. a "press any key to proceed" or some specific key would be best. as most games use that for dialogue. as it is i cant read anything.

If you don't press anything it'll play out by itself which should be slow enough for everybody to read. If you press anything though, the whole paragraph prints out at once, and there's only a second or two before it goes to the next one. So if you don't touch anything you should be able to read it fine.

But at least you're leaving comments at all. I have this unnerving feeling of "I laid a bomb" at the TDC!

nah id give it a 4. i just want to know the story first. the gameplay is simple and fun.

i know what you mean tho by it playin out. but even then its a bit fast. like i said i can only read the first few words before it changes by itself. same with looking at the controls. it displays them then goes back to the menu. so i had to hunt for the controls lol.

ok. with the dialogue thing.

i just ran it and this is how it goes.

-it prints the name of who's talking letter by letter.
-immediatly it prints all the text that they say.
-then about half a second it changes to the next dialogue

and im not pressing any keys.

Wow that's very weird I haven't heard of that problem happening to anybody else yet and I never had it myself. It sounds like something's up with your keyboard, or at least I hope so for the game's sake.

The control screen jumping right back to the menu screen also isn't supposed to happen normally. Maybe it is a keyboard issue?

Main menu UI is terrible: you shouldn't spread out option keys all over the keyboard for a series of binary choices, and you arbitrarily use space OR z to confirm different options depending on where you are in the menu.

The conversations animate too slowly when left alone, but finish too quickly when skipping the animation. The only way I can read it at my pace is to hold "z" to keep it from moving to the next line, which also makes an annoying buzzing sound. The common way is to wait for a keypress upon the end of the line to move to the next one, keeping the single press in the middle displays the entire line at once.

Gameplay is pretty fun. It is dependent on multiple playthroughs, but the game is short enough that it isn't annoying. It took me about 3 playthroughs to finish on easy mode.

i hope it isnt a keyboard issue! its a laptop and i cant as well just go out and replace it.

odd thing is i have the same problem with running the newest build of maplestory. i reinstalled it recently to play a bit and it seems to automatically press the '=' key.

the tech said it was a vista compatability problem or i had some spyware or virus on my computer.

i'll run some spyware and virus stuff and see if it remedies things.

I think the problem with Maplestory is the community

Noyb, I made a minor adjustment to the game and re-uploaded it. All it is is a flashing "press space bar or button" text that appears on the game menu screen. You're right, that was sort of dumb to expect people to just know to press something completely different all of the sudden.

And 01011001, you should change your name to: 1001001! (Another Rush reference, since there is so much to draw from).

Nice game but the dialogues are impossible to read.

They are too slow and when you press a button, it doesn't show you the current paragraph but it skips to the next.

I like the gameplay Image

This isn't really my kind of game, but I played it for a while and it's obvious you've put a fair bit of work into it. The graphics style is nice and retro and you've spent some time on the story (as bizarre as it is). I haven't seen any coding issues, the level design isn't brilliant but it's good, and you've gone out of the way to make it nicely presented. I'll give you my GOTW vote.

Thanks guys!

I thought the GOTW voting would have been decided on Saturday, but here it is the next Monday and it's still open. Weird huh?

Too much dialogue, not enough actual happenings in the story.

Looks like you put alot of work into this, and Rush is a decent band.

I don't like the gameplay much, and the dialogues are way too long, but clearly alot of time was invested in this.

3 star. yea, 3 star, no more, no less

Not my cup of tea, but impressive in an interesting way.
