I made this a while ago because I liked Castevania. Now I'm bored with trying to make something that's like something. You can beat the level, yes, but nothing happens.

Z to jump (you can double jump)
X to slash
C to special

The rest is easy to understand.
Offers a bit of a challenge but it's probably bad.

I did not make the music. It's lifted from Dracula X.
I did make all of the sound effects except the bubbling. That's from the MMF2 samples.

Now with proper thumbnails!

this was pretty cool neat specials but kinda hard didnt make it to the end

Thanks. I didn't get a whole lot of feedback with the difficulty. Once you get into the groove it becomes fairly easy, but with the constantly spawning enemies I understand why it's hard/annoying.

I really enjoyed this!

Things I liked:
- the graphics, they reminded me of 1990s VGA platformers.
- The music fitted the game well and was nice.
- Bloody bits flying everywhere.
- Obvious Castlevania inspiration.

A couple of things I thought of while playing:

Some of the branches in the background had the same color as those you could stand on, so I spent like 10-15 secs trying to land on the background.

The zombies came out of the earth so fast you couldn't dodge them if they spawned right under you.

And lastly it seemed that if you hugged whatever you were trying to kill to closely you couldn't hit it.

But as I said, I enjoyed this. I definately want you to keep working on this

Thank you. I agree with all of those negative things. I should have an extra tree shade and fix the zombie spawning. And the hugging thing, that's annoying. I'm sure it's an easy fix, but honestly the code to this game is a mess. I'd likely start from scratch if I continued with this kind of game.

Actually, I like it. The only problem I found was that some of the backgrounds looked like platforms. Contrast is key. Also I didn't at first realize you could double jump. I'll rate it after I beat the level.

Yeah, with the contrast. Every other layer has it but that one.

hehe, yeah that's the problem with getting better at coding - when you reopen old projects you're discouraged because things are done inefficiently
