What Happens Next?
A game about a life

What is it?
What Happens Next is an experimental game that's outcome is entirely dependent on what you as a whole decide.

How do I contribute?
The game is always expanding. At the end of every episode, you will encounter a means to a new place or a new item. It could be anything. From where you go, to what you do, who you encounter, what you may fight. Use what you've seen in the game so far to come up with what happens next. For example, from the first episode of the game, there is a mountain in the distance. As you come to the end of the episode, you see a doorway. While for the sake of another example the destination of that doorway has been decided, we'll think of something new. Maybe the doorway is a portal that leads to the base of the mountain, far below the starting point of the episode. Perhaps it is your goal to reach the top of the mountain. You can decide to make the player climb the mountain. You can decide if the player has to face obstacles or enemies along this climb. The end of the level will come and present a new situation. Maybe there is a gated castle. How will the player get inside? Do you even want to go inside? That's your choice for the next episode. New gameplay elements can be added or altered as the episodes progress. All ideas will be discussed and voted upon to ultimately decide what happens next.

How can I design my own episodes?
Firstly, you have to prove yourself to be reliable. Contribute often and show that you are creative. Think outside the box, but stay with the theme of the game. Everything in the series of episodes follows a sequential order. You must still follow the guidelines stated above. We'll provide the template to the game including some graphics and gameplay options. It will be up to you to decide how to best use these tools to build an episode based on the ideas provided. We can provide help with these tools if needed.

Anything else?
Contact the me if you have any questions.

The official forum for the game is located here:

These first two episodes are created by myself, and MasterJunoJet of Jet Force Gemini Apex.

We look forward to seeing what you want to happen next.

Wow... This is pretty cool, but it lacks music/sound and it's WAY too hard!

I'm sorry for the difficulty. I guess I just got used to the timing and didn't think much after that. I will fix that for the coming episodes. Please contribute any possible ideas either right here, or in the linked forum.

Thanks for playing.

Is that the same Sean O'Connor who made "Slay" and "Critical Mass"?

I would doubt that, but honestly I don't know.

Yeah, I guess half the population of Ireland is called "Sean O'Connor"... Anyway, I like the concept, but it's kind of boring so far.
