Project Overview
Preview I'd like to announce my start on a new adventure, a platformer with some neat little effects. No idea yet on plot/setting/stuff, but the engine is very much in the works, as well as the level editor, and I hope to figure out the rest once I find a partner who can draw better than I! Thats something I won't start looking into until the engine is complete, however.

Enemy AI part 2
Posted 7th Jun 09, by Pixelthief Post A Comment
Anyone played blobquest? You can download it in my profile still, I'm pretty sure. But in the very very first level, 5 seconds into the game, the first monster you encounter is the HOPPER. These little red fusions of a metroid, tektite and mushrooms will hop along the ground until they get close to you, and then pounce on top of your head! Well, I'm recreated them entirely within this engine! Now, they will hop along is 360 DEGREES! They can bounce around surfaces, jumping and walking with extremely smooth angle detection. Its a real treat to see in action.

Once I've added another enemy or two, I'll be able to construct the demo level and post it!

Enemy AI

implemented all the control structures I need for the most complicated enemy AI pattern; those that move along the ground. Enemies that do things like fly freely (not hover) or use bezier curves are much, much simpler. As that stands, I can simply plug in any number of constructs now. What this comes to mean is that I think I'll be ramping up towards a new demo in the very near future, one showing off all the newest changes
One little peek

This here code snippet, which I just cooked up tonight, all it does is move the monsters left and right when given a monster ID & how many units to move it! (5 = 5 pixels right, -10 = 10 pixels left). This should give you a taste of just how hideously complicated a project like this can be Preview
