Remember, although Ashman is very excessive
on the boards he has posted quite a few games
and deserves his fame as a click figure.

No offense, but I think that this site already
has plenty problems coming up and the money
thing would pull it under and shut it down,
although TDC would have more donations...

Not worth it.

Ashman is actually being very sensible in his rejection of this ridiculous idea, in his own Ashman way.

Well they were until my friends found them, ridiculed me and then deleted them (Not my porn, That stuff's nasty). Man everyone knew the next day at school, I'm a changed man, until I hit eighteen in half a year! I'll be the scourge of the internet porn seas!

Uh, guys, I don't think Jon really meant that we should put real money into the idea. It's a good idea, but only if you freely use it and don't mug anyone.

Jon, you shoulda just described it as "giving your DC points to someone else". A lot easier to implement and understand .

Of course, there's that problem with the multiple accounts for cash thing. It's a good replacement for the DC point system though. It's useless as it is and still doesn't reward people who've been around for years.

I think people who've been around for years don't need rewarding. The last thing this community needs is more people, "around". We need people to be doing helpful stuff. I reakon I'd be willing to donate a bit of cash to get prizes to the richest people. Just a little incentive to give click cash value. The idea of exchanging real cash for fake cash was just some concept for making people feel encouraged to donate to the site. I figure a donation is as good a contribution as any other, though if that's what's putting everyone off, then we can scrap it.

However, a good point was made, click cash will be once more thing for people to argue about. If I pay someone a dollar to design me a level, and the level turns out to be crap, do I still pay him? Though now that I think of it, we should allow people to be ripped off, because once you rip somone off, your reputation is shattered. So customer satisfaction is a must if you want to be the richest guy in DC. I reakon the richest guy in TDC should get a free coffee mug, or T-shirt, or cap, or mousemat, or something else cool with the phrase "richest guy in TDC".

I kinda meant something like allowances. Everyone gets 5 TDC Cash Points a month . Donations are good though, but it has the same problems as capitalism. Some filthy rich kid (in real life) who lives in America, Britain or Japan (or somewhere else where the economy is booming) can just act like a total jerk and donate 10% of his allowance every month and end up with loads of DC cash and make fun of the weak.

That brings monetary benefit to TDC, at the cost of some politeness. But still, we can always ignore them .

The only way to fix that Muz is:

A) Show how much is donated and how much is earned.

B) Make sure there is a more obvious rating system present.

Yeah, true. Okay, no donations. Everyone gets $5. No allowances. Then again, if every one has got like a million dollars, I could charge a hundred thousand dollars per midi file, and people would buy it. Well, I'm not an admin, so I really don't have much say in the matter. If something useful comes out of this, just put my name in the credits somewhere, and I'll be happy, unless I want to Alan Smitty it.

You can't really do much with $5, now can you? Maybe you could earn some more from DC contests and GOTW awards. Well, Worth 1000 -- http://www.worth1000.com -- has a good credit system.

I still think the donations are a good idea, specially with Keatonian's suggestion A. Pretty soon the admins (well, ShadowCaster at least) will be swimming in evil cash.

Yeah, I guess. Hey if everyone had a regular income, inflation would be a problem. What if everyone starts of with $500, and and gets a dollar a day. I actually think that we should't encourage people to just be here. I think people should be encouraged to do be helpful. I mean, this is a community not a game. Communities require help, games require time.

Might I suggest personally mailing ShadowCaster, Rikus, and/or Clubsoft about this? It's a good idea and shouldn't hurt more than it helps. They did a user-based DC rating system back in the old days. It shouldn't be too hard to implement something like this.
