hey fuck, I'm a member of a local Animal rights org. kepping hamsters sucks, but then again half of them are bought to feed pythons and other snakes, or owls, so it seems keeping then in a cage for a year or more sounds better than that.

All my pets have been very happy, I don't think there's any cruelty in it. My mouse could squeeze out of the bars, so the entire garage was his home. He just went back to the cage to sleep and be fed.
We also had a guineapig who spent a very happy life on the lawn all summer, squeaking and birbling away to the squirrels. Our pets were cool -- they always have attitude.
My G.Pig stalked and pounced on a cat! Never seen a feline so scared! Pets are lovely things, and a great way for young children to experience the joy of companionship with animals, as well as teaching them respect for their welfare. Mistreating animals is wrong, but they can have fruitful happy lives as pets.

Dines is right, misstreating animals is wrong unless you talking about grey squirells. I think you can mistreat them as much as you like as long as you don't kill them because then you'd have a dead squirell to clean up.
There so dumb, once I put a biscuit on the ground and every time the damn thing tried to get i chaced it away, this happend about 20 times when i got bored and the buggers determination paid off.

I enjoy shooting and killing crows with my air rifle in the forest outside my house... It's not cruel, what would you do if your back garden was covered in a layer of bird shit every day... It caused me so many disappointing mornings when I'd go "mama, it's been snowing" and I'd run out and start making 'snow angels' and snowmen, then the stench would hit me...
