A 1.6% error in AO's is not worth fretting about Fano lol. Plus if you want to be really picky about it I just measured 261 hence your quoted number exhibits a greater error than I made to start with .
The more you stick to TGF's limitations the better. As SMR said "Use whatever tool you wish, but imagine you were making one with TGF".
For the record I have TGF open here:
* No global strings, no editing transparency at run time, no alterable strings. There is also the and, or, xor and inversion ink effects.
* Object Qualifiers do exist in TGF though.
* 16 global values
* 3 Alterable values.
* Object flags exist but there is no specifier on the number. Assume 32 as Fano mentions.
* Global event groups do exist
Try your best to stick to the TGF restrictions but do not worry about it so much, you will have to do something reasonably blase to get disqualified

This competition is supposed to be for fun, not for obsessive compulsive adherence to TGF1 limitations
- Ok, you must admit that was the most creative cussing this site have ever seen -

What about list object? There's no such in TGF 1, but lists are present in MMF2. I need an array if I'm about to create RPG game ^^'.
If not...what about simple string operations - https://dl.dropbox.com/u/49372314/Screenshots/string.png ?

Thanks for somebody finally saying this Phredreeke! Please guys, let's just have fu. The judges are being very relaxed about the rules. I've honestly seen more complaints about all these small rules than if they were to say something, "Alright, only use one frame!"
All I can say just try to get back to old days of when we made games just to have fun, back when we didn't make stuff for other people but for us to play and have fun. I won't be competing because I've got something in the works for the 64 Digits RPG competition, but good luck to everyone competing!

I think it's fine to discuss what features are missing in TGF1 since most people have forgotten or simply never used it. An unspecified amount of leniency means someone might think their submission is within the rules but might get disqualified come judging time!
It's all healthy discussion
Also it keeps the forums ticking over lol

i used to rotate stuff using the picture object in the old days, and keep many directions.. but couldn't we just allow rotation?.. please? hehe... i got something going and it would really simplify things.

Wiiman, seriously? You trying to be Mr Nice Guy or somethin'?
We are all working on games, every single day and for no other reason but the fun of it. We make trailers and websites, we stay up till sunrise tweaking minor and unnoticeable details, we spend countless hours perfecting single frames in sprites appearing only once in games we will never finish, and we know we will never finish them yet we constantly update our wives/girlfriends/brothers/dogs with our progress, they are disinterested at best, but we don't care, why?, cause we are having fun.
What I love about click products are the endless possibilities, and with HWA and the constant release of new extensions, shaders and exporters, the possibilities are... even more endless. Yes we remember when you couldn't do things, but now we can, and we wanna do them. Even TGF1 is a dangerous power to be held and with it, anything and everything imaginable is possible, yet the work-arounds for the restrictions imposed are unnecessarily time consuming and most of all, not fun.
I'm out.

Chris-
Why not just make a game anyway? Do whatever makes it fun for you. Even in the worst case where it isn't eligible for winning a prize, at the end of the competition, you'll still have something cool to show for it- the game itself. Just like the 'prize' at the end of the Ludum Dare is the result of all the hard work you've put in- your creation itself.

Entering, project page: http://www.create-games.com/project.asp?id=2312
I used TGF and C&C about 10 years ago but can't remember a thing about them! Can we have alpha channels for nice glow effects?
