Meeko's Bubble Jump is full of mysteries. Who is Meeko? Where did all the bubbles came from? Why the hell is he forced to jump over them? What's on the other side of the canyon? I will not share any answers to those questions with you in this review (not because I don't want to spoil you the fun of finding out for yourself, but because the game offers no answers to my question ). So - here we go. Meeko's Bubble Jump by Bibin - the review.

Presentation 4/10

Title screen features a big portrait of Meeko stomping over some large round objects. It also says: Press space to play. When you do, you are presented with a choice of gameplay type. You have to press shift to choose an option - which is confusing - it should be space again. The fonts aren't very good and the title, options and high scores are placed on the screen in somewhat erratic manner. Not impressive at all, sorry. During the gameplay, the number of lifes and the current score is presented quite allright.

Gameplay 7/10

This game's a pure arcade with just a little sprinkle of strategic thinking. Meeko is forced to jump from one raising bubble to another. In Progress mode he has to go across a canyon jumping on bubbles raising from below. Every time he manages that, the bubbles increase their speed. In survival mode Meeko becomes suicidal and actually jumps of the clif to balance on the bubbles again. Only this time - there is no cliff to reach on the other side. In this mode you try not to fall for as long as you can. The bubbles increase their speed from time to time. Both modes are fun to play and the custom movement engine works pretty well.

Graphics 6/10

Meeko is a nicely designed character. He's not very complicated but fun to look at. More sophisticated than Pacman, less complex than Mario. The bubbles are bubbles, the cliffs are cliffs. Everything is clear.

Sound and Music 5/10

The music is allright. It's fast - well suited to arcade action. It would be a fun twist if it's speed would increase with the speed of the bubbles. It doesn't. Oh well... There are no sound effects in this game.

Lastability 6/10

Meeko's Bubble Jump is one of them "coffe break games". Or "chocolate milk break games", considered the cartoony style, non violent gameplay and the age of author. Fun to play, not really addictive but you can play it in your spare time for quite long.

Overall 6/10

Meeko's Bubble Jump is a decend arcade game with fast paced gameplay and pretty good replayability. The graphics are quite good and originall - Meeko is my favourite of all the characters Bibin introduced. Download and play - see for yourself. You won't fall in love, but you won't feel dissapionted either.

Thumbs up!
