When I start it up, I get the message "You have reached level 0!" or something similar and it won't let me do anything else except for accessing the menu options on the left-hand side of the screen. CNTRL and SHIFT don't do anything so I had to quit it.

Curious. Are you an administator on your computer, because i think that version of the game tries to store your saves in the windows folder.. I've fixed that in the latest version. Also, is your character viewable on the screen? Or is he at the top left... cause i've had that problem before..
I'll upload the new version really soon so you can see if that fixes it..
