Overview:

An arcade game that requires a dose of reflex and a dollop of skill to keep your ship out the way of the meteors!

Using a simple interface (just the mouse and the two main buttons), this game plays as simply as it is to make. The skill is to rack up as many points as possible whilst the meteors start to increase in speed. The game is over when you mess up and allow the meteors to wipe your ship out!

Extra points are racked up in a variety of ways, the main one by staying as close to the centre of the play area as possible!

Controls:

The player moves the blue mouse cursor which in turn acts as the moving waypoint for the space ship.

Left Button: Fires the lasers (laser ammo shown in ammo bar at top-right of play area)

Right Button: Stops the ship from moving, allowing the player to aim in diffent directions without moving the ship

As the title says, it WILL be finished and submitted to the arcade this week - just tidying up a few things and composing the title screen music

Hey yo!

Not alot of activity over the last 12 days or so, though i got to spend a good couple of hours last night just playing around with various bits and bobs; thankfully, the game is now nearing completion! A couple of things i have decided since the last Devlog are that the current place-holder graphics are going to remain in place and that the meteors will also stay as they are - it was felt by some who've played it that the different designs i have tried (including those in the previous post) were too dark to see, frustrating players.

Recently added includes;

New "Mooneyman Studios" logo screen (with help, see below)
Title screen finished
"Game Over" screen and menu finished

The game now plays as if finished in terms of how the levels/menus are set-up. Player interface has been as simplified as possible, with the whole game playable with just mouse movement and the left/right mouse buttons.

Just the following to sort out and the game will be done;

Game music
Final weapon

And one final note, as mentioned above i had some help with the new "Mooneyman Studios" logo, to which i would like to formally thank OMC for his more-than-generous help!

So i did a quick mock-up of the same shaped meteor but with more realistic, hologram-style graphics. Not sure if i like the results or not :S

This won't be finished for the end of the week, this has become clear now based upon how much i still want to add to the finished game. Added/changed since the last Devlog include;

Removed the old version of the 2nd special weapon due to Lens object being unworkable (see the thread in the forums)
Replaced with newer version of 2nd special weapon using Lens effect (see screenie!)
Added screen shake effect with multiple layers to create illusion of depth
Made some changes to the HUD; added special weapons status bar (5 star rating) and flash effect when new weapon is obtained.

Still a few things i know i want to do before i finish, including overhauling the HUD to make it look more attractive, change the place-holder graphics still in the game and add more front-end presentation (menus, etc.)

Finally, just wanted to shout out the following people for helping me out in the forums, ref. the Lens object/effect issues i was having. Your help was very much appreciated, here's to Flava, SiLVERFIRE and OldManClayton
