Project Overview
Preview I've just copied/pasted my original GDD here. I'll fix it/update it when necessary.

Milber's Mail Run

Platform/Tasks to complete/Achievements to unlock/Items to upgrade and collect

The game consists of the player playing as Milber the postal worker. You run around the town delivering letters to different houses, depending where the next house is (similar to crazy taxi).

Random events will occur after delivering letters to a house. These could include, a dog spawning and chasing Milber. Jumping on the dogs head will cause the dog to retreat back to the house (in this case...disappear >_>

Not finishing your mail run on time = angry residents and possibly more spawning dogs etc.

As each day passes Milber earns his pay from delivering the mail. You can use your pay to purchase items for your character to make life easier. Dog repellent/snacks to keep them away, Different collectable helmets and clothing, etc.

The visual style will be soft and cartoony with bright colours and pleanty of extra frills for added action! The game is setup in a platform view, with each row of houses on a different level, this can be great for jumping gameplay and even maybe some puzzles thrown in.

Music is from Milber 2...sorry about the framerate but the game is much smoother and faster on my PC FRAPS seems to have slowed it down.

Have been working on this a bit more lately.

Has a few more levels and a bonus speed run level which nets you some extra points if you deliver on time.

Besides that i've been working out a level selection/saving system so it's not too linear and you can go back and replay a level if you want.

Not really any graphical updates except the bonus level, but thats just a few new backdrop objects. I'll update when there's something new to show.

Until then, bye!

Yeah, so the old engine wasn't doing anything for me, and neither was the daunting task of creating the graphics at such a high resolution and inside photoshop (very time consuming compared to pixelling)

So I started the engine again (thanks to Pixelthief for some bug fixing ) and i've redone most of the graphics.

It's very arcade-ish at the moment and fast-paced. The dogs look cute all jumping around the play area like they're on smack...You will get to hate them however when they somehow bounce into your face.

Anyway, screenshot etc!

Image

The HUD is completely temporary...but from left to right is

- Slot that tells you if you are carrying mail
- Remaining mail to deliver in that level
- Lives left
- Time left
- Score
