Competition FAQ
News posted 1st June, 2002 by ShadowCaster
The "Questions and Answers" section on the competition homepage has been updated! So for those of you wondering the answers to...
  • I am not using MMF 1.5 to create my game, only to convert it to the required format. Will my game get special consideration since I am not using the advanced features which are included with MMF 1.5?
  • Will simply submitting my game to The Daily Click enter it into the competition?
  • Can I submit demos to this competition, or does it have to be a full version?
  • The competition rules said that I cannot use any copyrighted material. What if I get permission from the original author?
  • How will you be able to tell if I am over 18?
  • I am under 18, but live by myself, do I still need a parent or legal guardians consent?
Head over to the competition homepage to find out. Again, if there is anything I have forgotton to mention, please send me an email here.

~Mike

Well Simon Elo, I guess you'll just have to be origonal and create your own character :) In 3 months I could probably get bored enough to spend one of the weeks making a game. I hope we can see entries so I can go into pecimism about winnning contest.

The submit form isnt available yet (waiting for the president of the Computer Science Undergraduate Society to give me some space to do the uploads... and since he is so lazy it's not going to be ready for between 1 week to 1 month :() I'm trying to get something to work on the new server, but ASP is being annoying O_o) ~Mike

Hmmm... You said I could call it Chapter one. I suppose you know what counter-strike is and it has been a BETA for long. I'm also making an online game and as all know those gets more maps as it is out in public. They also get modified. So can you send in a BETA that is playable?

So what type of game are you guys looking for? Cos I know that most of the games that have come on the Click-Products CDs have been pretty lame, do we have to make a lame game or can we add some originality. OH and what are you looking for in a "good" game -playability -graphics -effective use of MMF -originality

Karl: No Beta versions please. This implies that there are still problems with your game (i.e. bugs), which isnt going to get you many points. You could always release your game as v1.0 then, when you have developed more levels or whatever, release it as 1.1, and so on. You could alternatively load your maps from external files, that way you could add maps whenever without having to release the entire game again (these sorts of things show initiative and may score you extra points in the comp). ~Mike

Well I hope I win then because then I can enhance it. I'll have to have a BETA test before then.
