News posted 9th August, 2008 by Muz
This week, Hempuli's FIG grabs the title by a stunning 47 vote win! Lily comes in at a distant 2nd place with 7 votes. OldManClayton: SAVE FDK! and my game tie for third place with 5 votes.

There are less games running for the next GOTW, but these games are still fighting for near-immortality on The Daily Click's GOTW page! Our GOTW entrants this week are: Node Pathfinding in MMF, Hyperblade, Tennis 2008 v 1.00, Run Or Be Mechanically Separated, Picture Puzzler (DOS).

Could a more capable admin redo the post so it actually says GOTW on the image?

Nice Masterpiece there, Hempuli. I'm surprised that my game got 5 votes.

You know, i don't really make comments, front page or otherwise. However, i feel i really must comment here. As games made by clickers get better and better, players will begin to weed out the lesser ones. This doesn't mean the lesser ones are bad games, it just means that more people have to step up to the bar. If FIG wasn't made this week, we'd still have a 3 way tie going. This week seems no exception. With R.O.B.M.S sweeping the title fairly easily. Not that i'm complaining or anything, I have nothing to offer click players yet. What i'm just saying, is that a few months or so ago, even last year, you wouldn't see a game like Iffermoon or FIG sweep titles like they did. Since quite possibly, we'll see more of this, and since those 'lesser' games are still appreciated, I think that some of them, should get a second chance. Especially if there's a tie or close race between second place games. Then those games should be given a second GOTW chance. The title would probably be 2nd GOTW or something. Also there would still be a GOTW which would be given more precedence over last weeks runner up. I'm not trying to ridicule the GOTW category or anything. I'm just saying that those second place games are sometimes awesome too. They should at least be given a second chance to prove themselves. Or at least see who would come out on top. Meh, this should probably go in the forums. Sorry for the long post. Just had to say something.

"What i'm just saying, is that a few months or so ago, even last year, you wouldn't see a game like Iffermoon or FIG sweep titles like they did."

That's an extreme statement to make.

Lol, Adam, I knew there was something I forgot to do. Updating GOTW felt suspiciously simple

Codemonkey: Just a little experiment to see if anyone actually looks at the hyperlinks

Pluxulthruft: I've seen worse engines make it there. Heck, demo engines have won GOTW. Don't worry about it, you won't win

Xhunterko, alspal: Thus is the nature of GOTW. A GOTM would produce a more balanced tie, especially on slow weeks. If last week's GOTW was on time, instead of being 2 days late, my game would've gotten a decent chance at winning because FIG wouldn't be in it. But Mr. Street just had to include it

How about silver and bronze medals?? Or if this is too much, TDC admins could use their blue stars to also recommend close second places??

Posted by Muz 10th August, 2008

We'd have to play those games to recommend them I should recommend my game!

Lol, Riiiight.

Actually, presenting old games which were awesome but didn't get a gotw could be a pretty awesome idea...

Make some scripting so that you admins can add uploads as challangers, then there can be a challanger per gotw week or so, as an alternative to the games presented atm. If there already is a good game that has been recently made and it loses to a challanger, it can become one as well.

I don't agree that the admins should waste their time on deciding which submissions are "lesser games" though. Doesn't really fill a purpose.

That's why they give out stars.

Settle down Adam.
