GOTW #252: Flame Object
News posted 23rd September, 2007 by The Chris Street
Kisguri's submitted extention the Flame Object is this weeks winner of the GOTW. Even though it's technically not a game. Or even a proper "klik" game for that matter. What does matter though is the quality of it, and it only beat Furry 2 by Dustin Gunn by one vote.

Click here to download the GOTW

This weeks entrants - BSOD, Rap Attack: 2pacalypse Now, Wings, RPG Hit Points Text Thing, Combo Block Bomber: Rush, and Furry 2.

So, sharewares can now enter the GOTW? :/

Posted by The Chris Street 23rd September, 2007

I don't make the rules, I disagree with it, but I have to follow them.

Posted by Drule 23rd September, 2007

I think you need to stop squabbling over semantics and focus on what's important; making sure that The Diary of Anne Frank reaches the masses.

Posted by Johnny Look 23rd September, 2007

wtf ?

Posted by Dr. James MD 23rd September, 2007

Well it is a terribly impressive extension!

Posted by TechVision 23rd September, 2007

While the flame object is good and all, it's a bit of a letdown that Furry 2, an awesome and well made game didn't win.

Posted by Steve Harris 23rd September, 2007

Extensions shouldn't be allowed. I mean you wouldn't let an engine test in would you?

The title should be changed as well IMO to Download of The Week as apps are allowed.

Posted by Sphax 23rd September, 2007

The flame object is a pretty good object but a lot of other extensions have been released for years and they have never entered in the GOTW... It's ridiculous since an extension is NOT a game and that's why applications are not allowed to be in the GOTW competitions.

Klikcast shouldn't be in the poll! It's not made with a click program or even FOR a click program!
The GOTW REALLY needs a proper list of rules!

Posted by X_Sheep 23rd September, 2007

I agree KlikCast really shouldn't be in it.

Posted by LIJI 23rd September, 2007

You also forgot a Comma after KlikCast.
Darn it! I ALWAYS find a mistake!

Posted by AndyUK 23rd September, 2007

some consistency would be nice.

however it would also be nice to be fair.

why don't you make 2 polls? one for just the games and one for the rest (engines, tutorials, extension examples etc)

Posted by LIJI 23rd September, 2007

@Andy
That'll be just silly and useless, as it's very rare to have 2 or more engines/tuts/etc in a week.
@Phizzy
Be nice or the admins will ban you again

Posted by Steve Harris 23rd September, 2007

Applications should be allowed... are they not already? This site is dedicated to showing what we can achieve with click products is it not?

Posted by Andi Smith 23rd September, 2007

Applications are not games, 'Game of the Week' should mean exactly that. It'll be funny if KilkCast wins this weeks 'game'.

Posted by Knudde (Shab) 23rd September, 2007

Applications have been included in the GOTW poll for years there Andi.

Posted by LIJI 23rd September, 2007

Please remove KlikCast from the poll, it's just being very silly.

Posted by Knudde (Shab) 23rd September, 2007

Will do.

For this one time only i re-entered a game for another go at the gotw, since i think it was unfair for a game to go up against this type of a engine. (Not that the engine did not deserve to win, its great, but thats not the point i'm trying to make) Klikcast has been replaced with Furry 2. The admins are going to have a good look at the gotw week rules in the next couple of days to see what we will and will not allow.

Posted by Ricky 23rd September, 2007

save the click cast into a mmf2 file, then it can be gotw

Posted by Broomie 23rd September, 2007

We really need a good look at the GOTW rules. I agree with Phizzy yet I think re-entering Furry 2 is only fair as it lost out to something that I don't believe should have been entered in. I wasn't sure about The Flame Object because it was a great little program but it wasn't a game or an application. If we're going to do that, I think we should add Combo Block Bomber and make this GOTW the last in terms of adding engines, objects and other non-game/applications.

Since it is Shab's game however, I think it should be up to him whether or not the game is added. I just believe it should be entered in if we're allowing Furry 2 to have a second chance.

Posted by Knudde (Shab) 23rd September, 2007

Admins who have a game up for GOTW typically don't touch GOTW for that week. Kinda of a little rule we have regarding it.

Posted by Steve Harris 23rd September, 2007

Alternatively you could change it to Download of The Week (DOTW)

Posted by Broomie 23rd September, 2007

We've been discussing about alternatives but right now it's something that we really need to have a good ol' talk about.

I liked Pick Of The Week myself. Not a fan of renaming it though which is why we're looking at solutions rather than alternatives.

Posted by Rikus 23rd September, 2007

Fair Enough, added combo blocker.

Posted by Phredreeke 23rd September, 2007

What happened to Anne Frank game?

Posted by LIJI 23rd September, 2007

It was removed because it sucked too much it even made Shab angry.

Posted by Dr. James MD 23rd September, 2007

Silly TDC!

Posted by Phredreeke 23rd September, 2007

I could have sworn this newspost had 39 comments last time I checked

Posted by Andi Smith 23rd September, 2007

The rules used to be Games only - that meant even demos weren't included. Perhaps there should be an Application of the Month, or something?

Posted by waffleton 23rd September, 2007

Eh, you didn't remove that Anne Frank thing just because it had 'shareware' in the title, did you?

It wasn't actually a shareware game... obviously.

Posted by Phredreeke 26th September, 2007

Is it just me, or did this newspost lose a lot of comments again?

Posted by Phredreeke 26th September, 2007

The administration of the Daily Click does not see lightly on these acts of terrorism done by LIJI. *Admin holds finger over big red DELETE button*
