The Weekly Click #17
News posted 1st July, 2007 by Flava
Can't remember the last time we had one of these - anyway, here is the 17th Weekly Click.

  • There have been a few updates over at Crobasoft lately/in the last few weeks. There website now has a skin system. But I'm quite dissapointed that most of their games have been put on hold - all games that I was actually looking forward too. The Dream Thief and Puzlox Blox 2 are on hold (and they're taking a break from The World that Bends - meaning that's on hold too), but the team have stated that they are working on bigger and better projects. Click here for more information.

  • New Acoder's member Chris Och has announced that he is working on a new project called Buckshot Sagebrush. He has released some artwork and designs which you can take a look at by clicking the link.. Click here for more information.

  • SilverNova have just released a video of their upcoming game, titled Zan-Zan. It looks as though they've gained some inspiration from games such as Knytt, and they've added their own touches too. Seems to be coming along nicely. Click here for more information.

  • Yesterday was MMF2's 1st birthday. It seems to have flown by pretty quickly - we still don't have Vitalize though! Anyway, give your own birthday messages to MMF2 (if you really want too) on the Clickteam forums. Click here for more information.

How the heck could you forget that its Breakout's 1st birthday as well?

It's not fair should such a marvelous masterpiece be forgotten that easily; http://www.create-games.com/download.asp?id=6263
You should all play it and enjoy the epic gameplay and thrilling action it offers.

Zan Zan is actually quite good. It's got a real classic Gameboy-like charm to it and a solid engine.

    Zan-zan praise makes me happy.

Posted by Hayo 1st July, 2007

    Yeah Zan-zan looks very nice.

I am less happy with the fact people are copying Pods shit about Croba.

Oh yeah, I only just saw that, lol.

Hey I made this cake! <_<
    Where's my credit <_<

Posted by Ski 1st July, 2007

    That's a very good point.

Posted by LIJI 1st July, 2007

Aw, the cake is gone now
I only wanted a credit for it, like adding (LIJI baked a cake) text.

Posted by Flava 1st July, 2007

Did you actually bake a cake? Or did you just paste the MMF2 logo onto a cake image?

@Flava: It's not THAT well edited, why people think it's real?

I wasn't really bothered about it until I read this on Silvernova's website:

"It involves a small res game that loads the world from an external file, I have also built an editor for it!. Very new concept"

Is it? From what I've seen in that video, the similarities between A Mini Falafel Adventure (http://www.create-games.com/download.asp?id=6646 by the way) and Zan-Zan go well beyond a coincidence.

For all the pissing and moaning that goes on about The Underside and Cave Story (for example), at least Pod never denied where he was getting his inspiration from.

I think he means he just started work on the game, rather than it being "a new concept in gaming".

I too thought it looked like Falafel, I loved that game personally Read my review @ CZ! hehe

I dunno... I think Ben must've played it and based it around it in a way as it is very similar etc.

But then I spose you can take it as a compliment Nim

Oh and also I've emailed Ben the new video ... it being slightly more professional, that's all.

Zan looks decent but nothing terribly exciting.

Posted by axel 1st July, 2007

Yeah, it does look like Falafel. I can't see the Knytt inspiration though.

    Posted by viva/volt 1st July, 2007

When I wrote new concept it referred to me making an editor and I was being sarcastic... And I was inspired by Falafel (heavily), I don't think there's very much original about it really. Just sort of the same kinda game for anyone who liked it.

    Posted by viva/volt 1st July, 2007

Oh and I made it in about 3 or 4 days on and off because we needed to release something to show we're not dead.

Posted by Peblo 1st July, 2007

Actually I think Silvernova is way too active, make a solid amount of content before showing off a game. Or don't, I guess. Games look much better after they've been polished anyways.

Posted by Peblo 3rd July, 2007

I wasn't at war >_< I honestly think that actual content should be shown in a game before it's shown to the public.

After spending way to much time going into this topic i have this to say: Anything thats not on topic will be removed, why? because its annoying reading 56 posts when only 5 are on topic. Don't bother with posting a reply that we delete comments unfairly (blah blah etc) I expect everyone to know the difference from a good conversation to rambling on about basically nothing. Come on folks, little disappointing in seeing this tonight really.

Posted by Ski 5th July, 2007

Buckshot Sagebrush looks very promising, nice graphics

Posted by nim 5th July, 2007

Hey Ben, it's fine. I'm not annoyed or anything. I was just feeling a little ripped off when I saw that neither the game creator or the news editor OR anyone who had commented so far had noticed the similarities. I've no objections to it a similar game being made. My first post still applies - I'm glad Falafel inspired you. Good luck with Zan-Zan
