Nice, looks like something off of ragarok online or something like that. uh... cool. I wasnt really surprised with the second picture, its less serious.. but keep going at it! ur good at it.
They look great. However, it might pay to remove black outlines and replace them with dark hues of adjacent colours for a less 'cartoon' look, unless of course that's what you're aiming for.
Well, I didn't use black outlines at first, but when I compared the two (black outline, and 'dark hues' as you called them) I favored the black outline. I felt it gave it more contrast from scenery, etc.

btw: what's wrong with the geezer? It's for a possible minigame: 'when senior citizens attack'...
