First of all, I feel this topic doesn't belong in the Code-It section.

With that out of the way, I feel it is completely up to the creator to decide what is best for his/her game. If an engine works well and is available for others to use then there shouldn't be any major gripes with utilizing it. If anything it takes tension of some of the coding process. But I think it is in a programmer's best interest to learn from an existing engine....improve it.....and then make their own. This way they can learn something and constantly better themselves as a programmer. If they keep copying other pre made engines without using their own abilities as a programmer...well, they aren't really becoming better programmers and will eventually hit a snag down the road that could've been avoided if more experience was under his/her belt. That's just my two sense. But If you aren't improving it's time to kick the challenge up a notch or two. Later.

Ya hi, Ive noticed you are discussing my game, EOL (ripped zeb engin). I can tell you now its not recomended, it was something I did when I was new around TGF and I just wanted to make a game. Its hard to add/remove your own events and its hard to change the ghrapics without doing some modifications in the "engine" co`s the animation size often is related to the event editor. And I did say that it was a zeb engin.

it was good of you to declare it was the Zeb engine though, rather than claiming it was your own. good show old chap.

The Zeb engine is a good engine if you can figure it out to mess with.

I was working on a decent Super Mario World engine
since christmas.Inc my own versions of the original GFX.(Other than the mario)

But im giving it a rest because it's to confusing.
Sofar I have all the original blocks.(brick , q mark , note , spinner)
4 Marios, (small , big , fire and a Racoon version I made myself)

Goombas that talk like the people of Raji. The works!

516 Fucking events!!!
All marios work fine exept for racoon who mysteriously sticks to roofs.
Im pissed!!

If the game you want to make is simple, use ZEB.
I personally have nothing against it.

Orwell, back to making my own games.
