Here’s my dilemma. I have two old KNP games that someone else made, that I want to put up on here. Tried running the games installer and windows 10 gives me a “can’t run this app on this computer” error. So I run the installer on my laptop with xp. Works as normal. Copy the installed files over to my windows 10 computer. Try to run the actual game and same error. Is it a 32bit and 64bit problem? Obviously I can just play them on my laptop with xp but I want to get them to run on Windows 10 for all of you. If I try to go into the properties and change the compatibility to windows 95,98,xp, etc.. no luck..Any ideas? Anyone know the way? Has this been asked a million times before and I’ve never known?

The problem is actually even older than 32-bit versus 64-bit--KnP games are 16-bit. Microsoft has stopped including a 16-bit subsystem in Windows by default and made it hard to even enable it manually.

There is a roundabout way to install a modified version of NTVDM (a virtual dos machine) that someone cooked up using leaked source code, but I was unable to get it to work. Windows complains about malware and disables it.

Your best bet is a VM, I'm afraid. Unless the gam files are unprotected, in which case you could import and rebuild them in CF2.5...

Thanks for the response my friend. Luckily they were unprotected and I was able to convert them with my copy of CF2.5. A little glitchy here and there and some fonts are missing but it works for me. Just waiting for the moderators to approve them.
