The front page hasn't been updated with any news stories for nearly two months; Same with the reviews section.
Looks like GotW hasn't been updated since 2011 and Klikcast hasn't been updated since feburary 2012.
The last SEVEN articles submitted are all spam and haven't been dealt with for two days.
The last semi-legit article was submitted almost 8 months ago.

Seems like the only three sections of the site that have been seeing any activity recently are projects, downloads, and forums.
I'm aware Rikus has a lot on his plate and the lack of updates aren't his fault, but where are the rest of the site mods and what the hell are they doing? I don't mean to downplay whatever behind-the-scenes work I'd like to assume they're involved in, but there's been no attempt in supporting users with new site content for quite a while.

I understand that many of the sections on tDC depend on users to submit content and if they don't, there's not much to update. Maybe I'm just not used to the way tDC operates because every website I've ever been a mod for, if users weren't submitting new site content, it became my responsibility to ensure the site remained interesting and continued drawing unique visitors.

I apologize if I just can't see what's keeping the site support busy these days, but from a visitor's standpoint; it doesn't look like much. If the lack of updates are going to continue for an indefinite or underterminable period, why does tDC even exist anymore? What was the point in getting Clickteam to pony-up domain registration costs? I just don't see the logic in running a community site when the community is missing and neither the mods or admin are interested in drawing new visitors.

This is the second time in less than a year there's been a blank space where admin response would go. After a few forum members started bitching, there was a revamp of the admin roster, a flurry of updates for about a month (which was wonderful to see), then admin activity experienced a gradual reduction to its trickle now.

I'm not able to build up anything on that end as I'm not an admin. I've done my own part as a forum user to add content and even start a compo open to any development tool/language, with a legit prize. That hasn't seemed to help much. I've personally been unmotivated to write reviews and articles.

I'm not sure what else can be done until we hear from the admin team in some way - either comments here, or site content. There have already been scads of forum topics related to the erosion of the 'old guard' and no 'new blood' to replenish the community. So it goes.

Looks like Rikus, Chris Street, and Clubsoft have been online recently. OMC, too - but he's not an admin. Everyone else has been offline for a LONG while.

You're right - it pretty much IS dead save for a few regulars offering help in the forums and unaware users uploading new projects, but that doesn't mean it needs to stay dead. There must have been some kind of reason why tDC was created as an alternative to Clickteam's official support site... I'm just wondering if that reason is still just as valid now as it was then. Without updates, I fail to see how tDC is a community-supported alternative to clickteam.com; especially when the community itself seems to be missing completely.

*Edit to avoid tripple-posting:
I also notice that a couple of admins have been online in the last 24 hours, and yet there's still a bunch of spam in the articles section.

A community site like this needs to maintain a certain critical mass of users in order to stay viable, and TDC dropped below that level a long time ago. No amount of updates, competitions and spam-sweeping by the admins is going to change that now.

I guess it's a little sad, but it's not like klikers have nowhere else to go - the Clickteam forums are far busier than they used to be, and there are other general game-making community sites like TigSource as well.

Personally, I now work 4 different jobs and have pretty much lost interest in making games (haven't touched MMF2 in months). I always preferred just tinkering and trying to find solutions to problems anyway, but these days everyone has moved on to Fusion 2.5 (which I won't be buying), so there's not much I could do to help, even if I had the time and inclination...

Perhaps a restructuring of how the admin system works would help. Regular users could be allowed to "Guest Admin" for a little while, for example. Just a suggestion. Or just clean the board and elect new ones?

Of course, there's TIGsource (a few MMF games have devlogs over there) and /r/gamedev but for MMF-specific news follow Clickteam on Facebook or get on Twitter and follow @Clickteam, @Fusionscene or @ClickteamFrance. There's also the "Golden Decade" group on Facebook if you're a member there. As Sketchy said, the Clickteam forums are quite active but AFAIK not much casual chat goes on there, it's mostly just Problem-Solution and for that reason I miss this place being active. There's also /r/MMF2 on Reddit but it's not so active.

Just keep working on your games. What matters is that you keep being creative and eventually people will enjoy what you make.

Nobody wants to play or make 2D games anymore. Clickteam's next product which is estimated to arrive in 2015 is the site's only hope.

I think that's up for debate.

But it cannot go unnoticed that this site is slowly going into some kind of hibernation state.
Revitalizing this site is also a popular topic, but I think most klikers have moved on.
The others (probably) only stay here for nostalgic reasons (I know I do).

And in about a week I will upload a new game, but it's probably going to be the html5 version and not a klik version.

That was in 2008. Now a lot of people are interested in 2D games, only this time on phones and tablets. These days nobody goes to a website to download a bunch of exe files to play. Clickteam developed the tools to adapt to this new reality (if you are willing and able to pay up), now TDC has to find a way to adapt to stay alive.

Oh wow, some proper oldies appearing.

I really miss the old days of clicking. Never really released anything properly as I always had "big game fever", but I used to enjoy being a part of the community and having a go at making cool stuff. Never had the attention span to finishing anything .

I was a site admin but due to work (I run my own company now) and life constraints the time I had just vanished into the ether.

A little bit of interest from the mods and admin - and a lot more traffic.

GOTW requires (decent) games, although probably some GOTW had only 2 games to choose from.

And I've just submitted a new game, so it seems TDC will be back to business in no time
More needs to be done, but hey it's a start

I've been back on the odd occasion, though I am somebody who likes to "download a bunch of exe files" on my computer. There ought to be an option to filter out Android/iOS games, actually. So I don't keep seeing things that look cool, which I can't play!

I haven't been to them in a while, but when when this place was dead, the Game Maker and Construct 2 communities seemed busy - Clickteam really needs to push Fusion 2.5 (I didn't even know about it until I went back to the site to check if the fabled "MMF3D" was ever going to exist), and advertise it's features. Plus think of some features they can include as standard that will blow the competition out of the water. I've seen some incredible-looking stuff done in Game Maker and Construct 2, if those are free, the Click products need to be worth paying for!

I wonder if there's a healthy community in Steam's Fusion 2.5 forums?
I don't see why there wouldn't be a few people there or floating about on youtube? Perhaps the community is more fractured that it used to be.

TDC used to be the no.1 place to be, now it's not even one of many. People probably don't even know about it!

This site used to be great. Maybe we need something like Klikcast, but on YouTube. Something that would get some views for this site.
We really just need more users and then the site would come back to life. But where could we find anyone who even uses klik products that hasn't given up on that hobby and moved on?

A complete overhaul of the whole site probably is needed, although this site has some nostalgic values for me...
This site has a HUGE amount of games, tutorials, articles and other useful and funny things. It needs to be better categorized and ordered. Everything on this site is more or less outdated. One little tiny thumbnail for games for example doesn't really get me excited to even click on that game, even though it could be something I would enjoy. The forums are old, and there's lot's of functionalities (and nicer looks!) missing when you compare to either tigs or clickteam.
Clickteam and Tigs already have better forums, so maybe focus and what WE have? Tons and tons and tons of games and stuff, as mentioned earlier. Actually 4400 games! 4400! There's probably a lot more hidden under some digital rock somewhere... and I have played maybe 3 of these... So something somewhere is very wrong.
Look for example how humble bundle and indiedb present their games . Much more clear, much more modern! This site looks like something you would find on the wayback machine...

So, to sum it up: Complete overhaul, and migrate to different site. Of course I'm too poor to host it myself, and crowd funding seems like it could bury the site when people stop paying. Seems a little egoistic to expect someone else to solve it though... I don't know how to solve it practically, but IMHO, redo everything but keep certain logos, specific things that feels like tdc, and it will do just fine!
But... If it's not meant to be, it's not meant to be. But we will kill it ourselves if we keep things as they are now and think more updates to the front page and GOTW will make more people come here. No, it won't.

I somewhat disagree, look at flappy bird. that game was a stupid and incredibly simple 2d game that made a huge impact on the cell phone gaming. i think catchy, or just simply addictive 2d games still have a huge market, its just about coming up with something simple and fun that easy to play in small bursts, but makes you want to play more of it.
