Ive been pretty disappointed with my Snes since I bought it this year. I think the main problem is that people tell me how amazing a certain game is and when I play it it becomes apparent it's nostalgia speaking (starfox? i mean geez).
The street fighter 2 conversions are really good though. Slightly better than the Megadrive/Genesis ones.
And if Zelda A link to the past is as good as Zelda Link's awakening on the gameboy then it will be a top game.
I'm in the UK and was thinking of getting Terranigma but the prices are a bit steep for me. Still cheaper than Kirby 3 or Mario rpg.
@oldmanclayton i was planning on getting them from eBay, since for me the only local video game place is gamestop. I've checked some games on eBay and they seem fairly reasonably priced, though you have to make sure they aren't selling just the manual...
prices (not includingshipping) were about:
zelda: $10
castlevania 4: $13
f-zero: $10
Mario Kart: $17
Mega Man x: $23
Metroid: $30
all buy it now... the only problem is they're from eBay, but i'm trying to only look at the trusted seller ones... If anyone has a better place to buy snes games in connecticut i would be happy to know of it
If you put a million monkeys at a million keyboards, one of them will eventually write a Java program.
The rest of them will write Perl programs.
Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country were the best. A Link To The Past is pretty bad. The enemies just wander around aimlessly without any AI. Kind of like they were given the "bouncing ball" movement from Clickteam.

oh man Terranigma. i personally think it is one of the best RPGs on the SNES. It's a shame and surprising it never got released in the USA.
Well let's not forget about Earthbound, please. In my opinion Mother 2 is probably the best SNES rpg. if only the cover wasnt so god damn ugly. no wonder nobody bought it lol. when i was a kid i just bought games with cool covers. it was a lot of trial and error. you didnt have DEMOS of snes or GB games and not every store would have consoles to play with or they just let you play the games you already knew so as a little kid i had to look what friends got or judging from the cover.
I do not understand the fuzz about Mario RPG. I do not think it was much fun. Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga for GBA is the best Mario RPG. Its a lot of fun with great graphics.
Zelda A link to the past is the best Zelda game in my opinion. The SNES one isn't as good. It's just a completely different setting which makes it so appealing.
There are just TOO many Street Fighter II versions on the SNES. They are all great and I love Street Fighter II with a passion (i never got into tekken and mortal kombat) but all those different versions are confusing.
After watching some reviews, reading through this post, and checking some prices... I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get
F-Zero ($10), The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past ($13), Donkey Kong Country ($15), and Super Mario All-Stars ($15), which should come out to around $55 (including tax) unless i did my math wrong. If anyone has any suggestions on replacements or place to get the games cheaper, please tell.

Well, if I'd pick a game for a console that was pretty much at the peak of 2d gaming I wouldn't pick an early 3D game. Anyway A Link to the Past and Super Mario All Stars are pretty good choices.
- Ok, you must admit that was the most creative cussing this site have ever seen -

"If you live in the US you can't pick up terranigma unfortunately . If I ultimately had to choose out of the list you posted I would get Link to the Past and Megaman X.
If you want to stray from that a bit, secret of mana and secret of evermore are excellent games as well."
Ebay is awesome, but I'm not sure if you'll have to have a specific SNES version (if theres a difference between the PAL version etc).
I totally fogot about mana and evermore, although mana was pretty cheese, evermore topped the hell out of it. #3 wasn't so bad, but I don't think there's a non Japanese version.
Have you beaten both of them?
I've played both and I have to say Mana is overall a slightly better game. Evermore is also amazing and the style is fresh, but it isn't as well-thought-out as Mana was. Mana is one of those games that gets better exponentially (so you have to put some hours into it.) Evermore is the same, but Mana does it at a higher rate, IMO.
