A quick 10-min MMF2 Java game "Some Touch Game" running on the Nokia N97. Just testing how things work in touch.

That's really cool
Should think of a better gameplay mechanic, obviously it would be very annoying to play when the phone is sitting on the table and your hand is hovering trying to tap the screen, what if the game was in portrait orientation, and you could easily hold the phone and tap it? Like a DS turned on it's side.

Sure, this is only a quick test which I made in 10 minutes.. i haven't optimized anything for gameplay, only testing how touch works in like 5 events. The reason why I'm not holding the device in my hand is that I'm recording the video at the same time.

Very savvy! But is that a stylus? If so that's the maddest looking stylus I've seen, and I owned touchscreen things before the DS!

Yep, it's some cheap stylus. The problem with touch games when you use your own fat fingers is that you end up filling the whole screen and eventually can't see anything while playing... it's a paradox! (hence the stylus)

Paradox? O_o

Anywho, neat that it's working! I've been thinking about making a game geared toward tablet users...

Yeah, kind of a conceptual problem with touch games in general. You touch the screen to play, but at the same time you make it more difficult to see what's actually going on there. A good example is Guitar Rock Tour which I just played: you need to hit the notes exactly - works great in regular "keyboard" version, but in touch the timing gets considerably more difficult (irritating) simply because your fingers are in the way and you can't see.
