Do you prefer top down games or platformer games?

And what if it was an online game as well?

Hey guys, if you need a spritist or someone to create anything about art:
-Logos
-Cut-scenes
-Sprites
and all sort of other things, then just send me an email or PM me!

comparing apples and oranges, dude. I like both, for different reasons, but if I have to pick, I'd go with top-down. Online top-down is better, but I'd like to see an online platformer for once.

Muz said it, Apples and Oranges. However, one or the other probably is a better fit if you have something in mind. If you're starting from scratch and don't have any characters or unique gameplay ideas, just flip a coin.

"but I'd like to see an online platformer for once." Umm... FS Series?

For me, It would really depend on the quality of the game. If I was comparing a really awesome platformer to a really awesome top-down, I would most likely prefer the platformer. However, if I was comparing a really lame platformer to a really lame top-down, I think I'd prefer the top-down one

Strange..

And Robotopia

I prefer platform, think the only top-down game I ever liked was Chaos Engine and Mean Arenas on the Amiga.

Well with a top down game graphics play a major role in making it look better (depth and what not), Id say it's considerably more challenging to make them, making it very rewarding if the job's done well.

Love both of em, but I think an online platformer would be cool for once. You know, I might start one- I've been inspired once more!

Yeah they lend themselves to completely different types of games.

As far as what I prefer making. . . Platformer! It's just a pain dealing with making 4 (or more) different directions of every object and having do deal with perspectives, things being in front or behind eachother, etc. I don't mind beat 'em up type angles though, it's got some of the problems as top down but less.
