Is there a tutorial to create cool explosion effects, such as boxes exploding, or bosses blowing up, or grenades blowing up?
Or is there an extension for this kind of thing?
I'm not exactly the bast at drawing let alone animating an explosion.
How do most people get around this issue to create and cool looking explosion?
I use a combination of drawing the object breaking apart with some small active objects that shoot out from the center of the object while it's exploding. You can do something that's pretty decent by taking the existing object and selecting parts from it in the animation editor and manually move them outwards towards the outside limits of your sprite's box and then drawing your fire or whatever in the center.
Just have in your head how you want the whole thing to look when its finished. Explosions force bits of the object outwards in all directions, something getting crushed from above would cause particles to fall downwards and the object to have a crack in it on the top that gets wider and wider until it crumbles into nothing (or dust).
