Hmmm. Usually look at other people's games, positive feedback, listen to happy/dramatic music, play games.

Pig out on cheesecake. Not really. I usually play ssbb until my eyes fall out of my head, then I feel like making an awesome game too.

Funny, coz I always feel motivated to make games until I actually play another game and feel the shame of the poor quality of my own work...

I used to have that problem too ~zigzag~ . Then I decided to not compare my games to other peoples games. In the same way, I can have fun bowling even though i'm getting gutter balls while my friends are hitting strikes.

I am most motivated to click when i don't actually have time to do it (like the day before a semester exam).

I play Brawl or TF2. For mega motivation I just go for a huge hike up in the hills and get a dose of atmosphere and splendour.

I play Super Metroid, i like the cave designs.

It's really hard for me to get motivated nowadays. Sometimes i can get really hyped up, then open a project and the feeling suddenly fades to nothing and i close it again.

I know exactly what you mean, AndyUK. MMF seems to do that to people. If I fear that may be the case when I get a new idea, I tend to do some graphics in another program first. That usually helps me.

I've got an article in the works on this. Here's a short take on it:
- Don't work when you're demotivated. It's kinda like pushing yourself to exercise when you don't feel like it. You'll get a little more done but you'll get even more demotivated than ever
- Play something that looks like what you want to create. My choice of klik games are TSE, Knytt Stories, and Fret Nice. I got really annoyed with doing stuff once and after opening up Knytt Stories for the first time, I was motivated to work on the game for a whole extra week.
- Make a loose schedule. Like tell yourself to finish the sprites or whatever by friday, but don't force yourself to double the work when you don't make it. Deadlines make the process exciting/challenging

And for you Andy:
- Comment or write notes on the game properly (a list of things to code, etc). If you have no idea what you're supposed to do next or what you just did you'll lose motivation very fast.
- Avoid repetitive work. I think I wasted about 6 days on my game just because I was obsessed with getting debugging or AI working right. I then switched to playing around with the sound effects and messing with the background sprites. After that, it took me 20 minutes to write the AI code that took me 3 days to stare at before.

(these tips also help when studying, working, etc )

When I'm doing anything and get some random inspiration I try and write it down, then I get other ideas, then I get motivated.

I can't get motivated because I feel that nobody wants to play SNES-like platformers anymore and I can't make much else. I wanted to make a Diablo clone using the pathfinding extension for MMF2 but then realised I can't model in 3D either. ;---;

I guess I could say that new extensions motivate me.

If you're talking about in the click-community, Id say it was the opposite.

I seem to have trouble lately, too... Of course, I don't have much to do until my sis draws more graphics. I really haven't sat down for long periods of clickage for a long time. When I ripped out the custom movement in BOM and put in a custom one, it was the biggest job I've done in awhile. Does anyone else get confused sometimes when doing large projects with many values? I think that's the biggest hindrance, getting headaches and not being able to figure out what to do next.
