Let me see if I have this correctly.

You allow swearing and you allowed the question in regards how to get the coding for Prograbots and searching for its owner, but you don't allow a discussion about a your News item about Mr. Map Maker and the link you gave being worthless? With the exception of swearing everything mentioned has to do with Coding. How can a person look at the source code for Mr. Map Maker when the link you gave in your News was worthless. You should personally check the links before you blindly post them in your News.

I thing Daily Click needs to re-think and do away with double standards and immediatly delete a posting that includes swear words.

I am 57 years old and have been using Click products since 1999. I would imagine you have much, much younger people using your site and you expose them to bad language on the Code It Forum.

Young people are the worst of the lot.

Round here, you're more likely to get a coherant sentance out of a teenager, than one without profane language in.

(by coherant I mean without sounding like they do when they're at a computer/texting people)

The Code-it board is generally for code-related questions and discussion. People come there to ask for help with their coding, not to report broken links. Your request was not directly coding-related. If a download link isn't working, either point it out in the download's comments section, or send a personal message to the author, just don't bring it to the boards. That's just the way it works.

As for swearing, I don't see it as a problem. It is against the site rules, but it's rarely enforced. Note, however, that excessive profanity usage is much more likely to get you banned than asking a question on the wrong forum board.

Well I guess if you think it's ok to swear on the boards, which is agaist the rules, I guess I have the option of not coming to the boards any more. So, I'm outa here.

Hi Marvin, normally if someone swears a warning on the post itself is put in place (we have a system for that) It is rare if ever that a topic gets deleted because of it recently. If you find a broken link you can always report it to the admins. No need to leave the site. Dc mail is your friend with things like these.

i can guarantee that other boards on the internet uses profanity. how do i know? cause i'm on the internet alot.
and profanity is becoming desensitized. as long as it isnt used to the extremes like "f this, this is f'in stupid you f'in mother f'ers" i don't see a problem with it. which by the way is language i have heard coming from a ten year old.

take a glance at TIGS. theres profanity on the front page almost everyday from the editors.

most people on the boards are old enough to know what is appropriate or not. and profanity on the "code-it" board is the LEAST of the DC's problems. take one quick look around and you'd see.

as for broken links. if its a link that TDC has up its usually a mistake and simply letting them know will fix it. if its a download its the authors fault and TDC cant do squat about it.

so don't leave because of petty problems like that. if you ask me, thats quite immature behavior for a 57 year old.

I guess people of my generation and younger are less sensitive to swearing.
You know, in many cases it's only used to emphasize a point instead of causing offense.

I really think leaving a forum because some members don't have a problem with it is a bit of an overreaction.

To be honest i find censorship much more annoying than swearing.
