Can you hear that? I can't. Which is why I'm after a sound generator application. Do any exist? Ideally after something to produce a SNES like sound effect.

When I need SNES/chip-like samples I usually just load up a random sample in ModPlug (any decent audio editing software will do), and cut out one single period* and loop it. You can get some pretty nice sounds, with some tweaking and tuning, and by using different kinds of samples.

* Wikipedia: In physics, a period is an interval of time between the recurrence of phases in a vibration, waveform etc.
