Has anyone played that old Net Yaroze game, Blitter Boy? You had a gun on it which if you held the fire button down, would shoot little bullets quickly so far infront of the character. When the bullets reached a certain point they would dissapear. What would be the ebst way to acomplish this?

I dunno but there was a little Tomb Raider-ish like Net Yaroze game and it was smashing.

That looks like a pretty crappy clone of robotron/llamatron just with better gfx to me.

Anyways, the easiest way to do what you want is just to give the bullets an animation that lasts long enough for them to reach the required range, and then destroy them when the animation has finished (and you can give them a disappearing animation too like in BlitterBoy)

Net Yaroze games were well good. I remember Blitter Boy, as well as Terra Incognita, An Adventure Game, Hovercar Racing and others.

Yeh, I'd do what Sketchy said, make an object with an animation, and when anim is finished, destroy the object. I'd do a fade out too, which you could do with the transparency levels (like Always: Set transparency to Transparency (Bullet) - 10, or something.

I remember many of those, a Playstation magazine gave loads away on one coverdisk.

To achieve the bullet disappearing effect, when its created, add an event:

Alterable Value A is LOWER than 60:
Add 1 to Alterable Value A

Alterable Value A =>60:
Destroy bullet.

For the reapeating quickly effect
|While Fire is down | Fire bullets
|+Every 0'10 seconds|

A better way to do the bullet firing would be this

Repeat while Player presses Fire and GunDelay = 0
-Fire Bullet
-Set GunDelay to 10

Always
-Subtract 1 from GunDelay

Timer based rapid fire is very spotty, as you have to have the button pressed exactly every .10 of a second.

That was the disk with a large metal gear solid demo on it.

Blitter boy was a bit crap really, very polished but not actually any fun to play.

I liked 'Adventure' and that 'terra cognita' thing too.

Actually that's 0.20 seconds.
Also "limit actions to 0'10" would do the same effect

Terra Incognita was great, I just used to play it cos the translation was so crap it was hilarious, the intro had dialogue that made little to no sense. Also the actual engine was pretty bollocks too, but that wasn't as funny.
