I tried to install TGF Pro 16-bit v1.06 build 38 with downloads from Clickteam's website and upgrade it. The installation went fine and the software works, but I can't upgrade it to Pro. It says, "This program cannot update this version of The Games Factory. Please re-install The Games Factory, run it once, exit and relaunch this install program." That didn't even work. Any solutions?

Also, the unregistered version was installed.

It's retired, so it's available for free on their site. I downloaded the main software at v1.06 build 38, and the Pro upgrade for v1.06 build 38, and that's what I'm having problems with.

Last time I checked only Standard was avaliable. As far as I know you can't even order a Pro key anymore.

*sniff* RIP TGF.

That won't work until my problem is solved. And that problem is in my first post here.

Why use 16bit?
is the update only designed for 16bit?

I'm fairly sure anyone with windows 98 upward is better off with 32bit TGF

I'm only using 16-bit because it's compatible with Windows 3.1x. The upgrade program is available for 16-bit and 32-bit in two different programs if you look at Clickteam's download page.

Umm, I didn't catch that, but using the 16 bit version is probably your problem; unless you're actually running windows 3.1

Well, I'm also using Windows 95, but maybe I can get around this if I just re-install with the original installation program choosing the pro version installation. Would I need a code for this upgrade patch anyway?

EDIT: Running the upgrade installation in windows 3.1 didn't work either.

try the 32-bit version man. There's really not too much of a reason to make your stuff 3.1 compatible at this point. Unless you specifically need it for 3.1
