hold on everyone.

ive sent a proposal to shab, whic hopefull can become a new official TDC compo.

it's incredibly lenent too except only being able to use click products and it being one particular type of game.

but one that we mostly all like to make i'm sure.

Ok, here's an idea for y'all.

Make a game in full-screen 320x240 resolution. The catches? The size of the actual frame cannot exceed 320x240 either - meaning no scrolling games. The other catch? No game saves (though passwords are acceptable).

The prize? Lets say... 200 DC points? The judge?

Me!

The deadline? Let's say... Saturday 17th February 2007 at 6pm GMT.

I seem to remember people attempting scrolling in KNP with a 640x480 window size and it worked.

Could you explain "no game saves" a bit more?

Eh. No Game Saves. That means no save data may be used. No INIs, arrays, anything which creates external files containing data, really. Passwords are acceptable. Scrolling is acceptable too - but only if it's fake, as in the K+P days.

Anyway, up to you if you want to give it a go.

Wow, if it weren't for the "no saves" rule, my current project'd be acceptable!

...But I'm sure I could get something else together, with tactical use of fake scrolling.

No, I'm still working on "Nothing". It was actually the project I was referring to (as no actual frame-scrolling occurs).

It's just goin' kinda slowly, as there're a number of aspects I'm not that good at, and I haven't been able to find any help.

But yes: still in progress.

Hey, if you wouldnt mind, cant you atleast show us a new screenshot or something? ^^ Pleeease? D:
I just completed the demo, for like the third time lol, i need more x)

Im also wondering how the heck youve coded the level-system without using any actual scrolling, sounds tricky.
Well my latest project also uses external level-files but im not as leet as you Dx lol

Yarr, I guess I could post a few screens. In a more appropriate thread, of course. (I'm glad you like the game!)

And the non-scrolling tile-based level-system is all thanks to my favorite object of all time, the Text Blitter.
Seriously, that object is awesome. I'd thank Chris Light again if I knew at all how to contact him.

320 x 240... No scrolling, no external files... I will attempt to win.
Even if Andy's idea ends up switching the compo theme.
