Hi everybody!
I'm designing a commercial game and would like to form a team. The programmer I was working with has had to back out of the project (work,school,etc.). Essentially this is a bat&ball/action game with a 'Pot Humor' Twist. What's "Pot humor"? It's a term used to discribe humor based on marijuana and other drugs (Think Cheech & Chong, Half Baked, Harold & Kumar, etc.). I'm not trying to promote the use of drugs with this project, I'm just trying to make a goofy toung-in-cheek game that the so called 'pot culture' might want to buy.
Heres the idea...
SPLIFFY- The Joint of Justice!
Mysterious aliens have invaded the planet of Bongonia. A planet covered in lush marijuana forests and fields, inhabited by a peaceful race of 'Pot people'. The aliens are destroying everything in site. It's up to Spliffy, a magical marijuana joint, and his good friend Buddy, to save the world. Use amazing 'Pot Powers' such as 'The Power Pipe' and 'The Cherry Blaster' to destroy the legions of alien invaders. Spliffy must discover the evil intentions of the mysterious aliens and save Bongonia before it's too late!
...And there you go! Pretty damn goofy, huh? And it doesn't really promote drug use at all. The hero just happens to be a joint trying to save a planet covered in pot.

What I would like to do is form a team with one or two click coders (programmers, whatever) and possibly a graphic artist with a syle similar to mine.
I have uploaded a 'concept stage' and a few music tracks from the game. here>> http://www2.create-games.com/download.asp?id=6199

It's hardly a Breakout clone. The standand weapon is a bat & ball yes, and you do smash eggs like you would smash bricks in Breakout, but thats just in some stages. It's planned to be more like a shooter with intense action and loads of enemys and huge bosses. Theres going to be alot of comedy thrown in each stage as well as nicely animated and well voiced cut scenes between stages. We are also recording a great original soundtrack (in a real studio even!). I think it will definatly be worth the $5-$10 bucks we're going to charge for the game. I think it'll sell a few copies.

So it’s a breakout spinoff, which isn’t a clone, but still doesn’t event dent demand for that kind of game anymore. The supply is so great for those types of games; it’s hardly worth buying into. Sort of like when they have too much money in circulation. The dollar is worth less.

I agree that there is alot of breakout clones out there, But this is going to be something completely different. More like a 'comedy shooter' with a hint of 'Breakout'. The concept stage is misleading. Makes it seem like the whole game will be based on the 'Bat & Ball' engine. But thats not the case. I've talked to the owners of a few local 'Head Shops' and showed them my concept sketches and other designs. They have ALL agreed to give me a display (free of charge! weeeee!) in their store so I can sell a few copies. It's great how local companies here in Edmonton AB. Canada want to promote local artists and underground film makers. Now we just have to make the damn game! lol

Stoner humour isn't funny. This just sounds horribly lame and forced to me. Good luck.

Beleave it or not, there is a very large market in the so called 'stoner culture'. Have you noticed the amount of 'Pot Humour' in todays pop-culture? I could list at least 10 movies from 2000 - present based on the so called 'pot humour' theme. Not to mention the increase in stoner mags and 'head shops'. There IS money in this market. To me, there is no doubt. A non-stoner might find the idea 'lame'. But you have to have a bit of a strange sence of humour to appreciate it, I suppose.
Dick and Fart jokes are still funny. Same category I say.

I enjoy altered states as much as the next fellow, and I'm telling you this is a stupid idea. List any example you like; invariably the drugs are secondary or simply a plot device. Filling a game with as many drug references as possible is not the same as humour, you've got it backwards.

Drugs ARE secondary to the plot Radix. And it's not "filled with as many drug references as possible".
It just so happens that you control a magic joint, whos trying to save his home planet...which is also happens to be covered in weed. Hmmm...it does sound fairly stupid doesn't it? STUPID AWESOME!!! LOL
Ok so, Radix absolutly hates my "stupid idea". S'cool.
Lots of people have shown interest in the project. I have recieved emails from some very talented clickers who want to be involved. Thanks to you all! Keep the applications coming guys!

I guess you'd have to be stoned to find that funny, which is kind of the point isn't it?

You might be right about that, Noodle.
(That 'Circy's Poem' is hilarious! And kinda relevant too. Maybe I should change it from a drug theme to a HOT PANTS THEME! BRILLIANT!!)
