Ok, now that cavejumper has gone sharware merely two weeks after it was declared GOTW winner, I really think the games that it lost to on GOTW should get a second chance. I'd actually remove it's GOTW status if I could as it's not even avaliable for download now, and when it comes back it's only going to be a shareware version.
Anyway, who agrees that all the games from that GOTW poll should get a second chance in next weeks poll?
I dont think he anticipated that a publisher would contact him about selling the tiny-res CaveJumper.
This is inspiring stuff if anything and we should just be happy that someone who put hard work into a creation is being rewarded for it.

i know KNPMASTER really well and he won't cheat.
his site is full of fans that voted for his game before it went unfree.
he WILL publish a demo version so i think he still should own the "award"
Exactly. I'm sure knpmaster... probably... didn't know he was going to release it commercially at the time, but there's nothing to stop people doing this deliberately for publicity, and that should be discouraged.
Have the admins taken the proper time to contact the makers of the game and discuss this with them before taking the actions as described? Not saying that you absolutely have to. You are the admins, after all. But I was wondering if you had talked with them and know what they think about this whole thing going on.
That's a very fair and good idea to give the other authors another shot at GOTW. I hope they do well.
However, I don't think its fair that those people that stated that "KNPMASTER cheated the community" are getting away with saying that. KNPMASTER is a close friend of mine since middle school, and I know that he doesn't "cheat" his way through things. He was offered a VERY good deal to finally make money for producing his quality games, and he took it. If you were offered that kind of opportunity, wouldn't you take it? Any true fan of gaming and the community would be happy for one of its reknowned members to finally get a chance to do this kinda thing, not shun him for it.
I'm not aiming this toward TDC or GOTW specifically in any way. I'm stating this in general. It just makes me angry that so many people that have backed KNPMASTER in the past suddenly turn the other way when the word "commercial" is thrown out there. But I guess that's life.
This has nothing to do with KNPMASTER; I'm not taking away his GOTW award; and I hold him no ill will; though I am slightly pissed that the GOTW winner is no longer avaliable and will not be free merely two weeks later.
This is about giving all those other games another chance. There's nothing to discuss with KNPMASTER. GOTW is about FULL & FREE games; Cavejumper no longer fits into this category, and I think it sucks that had Cavejumper been initially shareware; it wouldn't have been in the GOTW poll and all those other games would have gotten a decent shot. So I'm here to make sure they get their decent shot.
