Just a quick note, then I'll crawl back into my grave again
I just found (and bought) a very very awesome and cheap Icon program, called IconXP.
I thought it'd be worth mentioning here, because it's the kind of app I would have loved back when I did clicking. You can build an alpha PNG file in Photoshop, Paintshop pro, or some other app (or in IconXP itself, but I don't like the editor), then convert it to an ICO file. This way you can make nice professional-looking XP icons! Yayness!
You can also rip icons from Dlls and Exes, converting them to PNG. So u can use windows icons in conjunction with the Alpha Object.
But this has wicked transparency, so yeah paint = gay.
I just made my icons in MMF, this little program looks good although i wouldnt pay for it, i might "get" it from somewhere
Thanks for pointing this program out Dines, it should help some people.
The icons created with paint by renaming them to *.ico are sometimes not recognized by programs which do have a check for a valid icon format in the *.ico file.
Windows isn't that picky, it will just accept any graphic file renamed to *.ico so that's no problem.
