Like usual, I would rather make a small post about a game I'm designing if its in early development, rather then post a huge preview & by the small chance I get hopes up, I end up crashing them because the project failed. Anyway, the project this time is ChaosKeins: Online, a completly re-made version of the original game with alot of new planned additions, and already, a world of improvements already made to the game.

Anyway, getting this kicked off, first things first, I would like to explain some things about ChaosKeins to those who might not know much about the game, expecially seeing as the original ChaosKeins is near impossible to find anymore.
ChaosKeins is a game featured in a world of beings known as Keins, these keins have very unusual, but powerful abilitys and often use them to keep peace from any chance of evil, unbalance, or anything like that. Though being the way they are, it would obviously be boring to sit around doing nothing but waiting for trouble, it wouldnt be much training either, so often Keins venture out into the wild & face untrained keins (keins that lack almost all sence of civilization) and will train there abilitys to get stronger and stronger. Usually keins fight each other, just to prove who is better, but usually its all in good faith, and is often alot of fun. In the previous game, 3 keins came from space & caused 'chaos' over the land, these 3 keins were very odd and had no known abilitys other then all of them, so they were nicknamed the 'Chaos Keins'!

Well, now that all of that is in the past, we should focus on the present...

Whats new?
Well aside from the completly revamped graphics, all designed in 3D Studio Max 8, alot has been changed. At this point, all of the improvements are in the Online battle between 2 players, being that this is one part of the game that might be often used. Unlike before, this section of the game, like all other parts, will be worked on very deaply to assure no problems like before. Anyway, a new attack system is fully functional at the moment, making it possible to teach yourself up to 3 different attacks at one time! No longer are you limited to just 2 attacks based on your keins element. Think of these as TM's from Pokemon for those of you who have played the popular RPG for the GBC/GBA. Attacks in the game so far, are massively improved and alot more of them are being added. So far, the attacks I have in the game include:
Standard Slap- Slaps the opponent silly...
Bite- Simply put, it bites the opponent.
*Paralash- Causes the players 'reheat' to slowly move down until the energy fades.
*G-Shield- A shield of pure energy that defends you from a good 50% of all damage delt.
Water Lock- Pulls up water that will slowly start to drown the opponents health for a limited ammont of time.
---Much More!

A completly new element was also added into the game, this new element is known as energy. Energy is a completly new method of attacking, heres how it works.
Attacks known as E-Attacks (Energy Attacks) are attacks that require a special focused energy that is naturally produced by your kein, but this energy is valuable because it takes a long time for the kein to regenerate the energy. Overall, when you perform an E-Attack, the attack will drain the required energy from your kein, and restrict it from attacking until the energy level is high enough to pay the cost of energy required for the E-Attack you wish to perform.
Most E-Attacks are pretty obvious how ever, & this method was specially implicated to avoid the game from getting very boring, ideally because most E-Attacks are things such as the G-Shield & Paralash, attacks that overall would create a very boring game if they had the ability to be used over and over again.

Save files are one of the better improvements on the new game as far as security. The all new version of ChaosKeins uses a new encryption method that even farther makes it harder to hack the save files, then it would be, just using the Save File Object, that comes with the first Bonus Pack for MMF. The save games in the new game will be alot more valuable how ever, including alot of importient information, such as your attacks, your health, items, and position. Such things being as importient as they are in the game, new measures were taken, to assure that they dont get accident messed up by the game, including a special feature in the game that detects if the game was shut down incorrectly (Alt+F4, Crash, Power Outage, etc.), which would allow the game to check & repair the save game if by any chance, any harm came to it.

Online version checking, an all new addition to ChaosKeins, will make sure that your version is never behind! Assuring that if an update was officially released, that you will have it installed, before playing the game with others, avoiding many problems that might start, if various people were using older versions of the game. How ever, the game is planned to be alot more compact then the original game, the game will still be big enough to scare dialup users away, so I would like to just inform everyone in advance, the game will still be pretty large, though I plan on making the updates as small as they can be, so that it isnt hell everytime I make a small change to the game & release the update. At this point, unlike in the original game, special measures are being taken, to link graphic objects with global objects, and events, to avoid expanding the final size of the game, any more then it needs to be, because of graphics.

The above is a small preview of the new battle scene, oppinions on the HUD welcome.

The above shows the all new custom dialogs being used in the game. Though may not be a huge update, the fact that very little signs of Windows making its apperence in the game, is a great improvement on how immersive the game turns out in the end.

I would give a screenshot of what the actual world looks like yet, but not much work has been done in this area yet, so it wouldnt be enough to give a good first impression.

Anyway, thats all for now! Hope to get some oppinions on the game so far, and if anyone wants, I could use some testers. If you want to try & help test, just DC Mail me or e-mail me at: Goldansilver3000@Comcast.net
More information will fallow, but for now, here you go!

Man, you are a machine! You pump out games with 3D rendered sprites and most containing online games all the time. This one looks like another quality release, keep them coming.

Off topic, but how's Arcane Tales coming along? Did you axe that in favor of this or are you developing them simultaniously? Anyway, it sounds like you've got a lot of good things going on so far with this game.

My previous computer, which has everything, including ArcaneTale on it, had a motherboard problem, so until I get that computer fixed, ArcaneTale cant go anywhere. As far as ChaosKeins, I dont need the other computer to get started, hense the reason I started.

Umm, can't you just take out the harddrive and hook it up into another computer?

It's not THAT easy, Peblo. The time I had inserted a new hard disk, I formatted my old one too because that was the easiest way. (But then again, my previous hard disk was Windows/Linux, making things more complicated.)

None of the ports on my other computer work, even when it is turned on, and as far as removing the hard drive, I dont know that much about a computer in general, to make sure it works on a different computer, so at this point, I'd rather wait until we get the motherboard fixed or replaced, so that I can just access the game from its original location, rather then ripping its entire home from the roots.
