Well just so you people know Planetwars 2 and Bob the Schizo are dead after a rather nasty virus attack on my pc, at least I'm guessing thats what it was... One minute everything was fine then I decided to do a disk cleanup (the default windows app). It was taking a long time to clean and I thought it a bit suspicious- then a message came up asking me to insert the windows cd because windows files were missing... So I did but to no effect, I rebooted and hoped it was just some irrelivant file but the pc coundn't load up windows. I took out the hard drive and put it in another pc only to find that every single file (bar 100mb in the windows directory) had vanished!

I did scandisk and everything, and used stellar phoenix to attempt to recover my games- but all I have is a heavily corrupt version that mmf can't open. Serves me right I guess for not having any proper backups- but I really didn't think something that destructive would happen, its a reletively new pc (about 7 months old) with a 120gb seagate hard drive (which I understand are particularly reliable). I know I sound like a n00b here, but I was running latest versions of avg and windows xp sp2 firewall!

Well ... I guess it is the famous "learning by crying" lesson.

Always remember:"Real men do NOT take backup!" (no they cry instead).

Ah! Bob may not be completely dead, I just found a game file that I tranfered across my network to test multiplayer. Thats good news as it's only about a month old and has all the weapons and the engine.
