So, who liked what?

I've only played two so far, but Brian Haase's looks nice.

I'm playing them now. Can anyone else get ARTHURSMITH to open? Says the zip file is corrupt for me, even after redownloading it.

So far I like defenestrator's Business Man Plus. I played Phizzy's game too, but beat it in six minutes.

Sorry. >.>

I was just commenting, I just hadn't finished playing the others yet. I'll comment on the rest when I finish with them. Still playing Power Quest, it's actually got a pretty nice engine.

Don't interrupt people when they're praising my shit.

Yeah, Arthur Smith doesn't seem to work. Snerlin's game looks good. Haven't gotten much into it yet, though. I think Power Quest was the only one I finished. Probably because it was the first one I played.

Still trying to figure out if Flamestickball even qualifies as an RPG. o.O

It does have a battle system, and since I kept dying it easily had 15 minutes of gameplay. You could take the level objectives loosely as quests... Damn, it barely qualifies. It doesn't feel like an RPG though, it feels like an arcade game. Cool concept, but I dont know if it should be in an RPG contest.

I think several of the games don't qualify. Peblo's Abandoned RPG engine is interesting but doesn't quite work. Phizzy's game is solid but super-short, under the 15 minute mark.

On the flip side, Snerlin's Randomness RPG is awesome, and so is Noodle's BBRPG. Both have really nice engines. Noodle's has better graphics, and Snerlin's has a better battle engine.

Power Quest has a nice start also, but the graphics are obviously lacking. He did have a nice party system though, and a real solid and promising battle engine. I'm really curious how he did the spinning option menus, those look just great.

I'm just downloading the other games now,

I dont know why but from shab's website you cant download ARTHUR SMITH, it says its 44kb aswell and its really 2 meg.

I've mailed shab about the problem, I hope he puts it on properly soon, otherwise ive got no chance of winning

So try downloading it from any of these 3 instead:

I've worked out why shab downloaded my game wrong. It's because on some PCs, freewebs is a blocked website by internet explorer.

So I've mailed him about it and hopefully he will fix it on the main download site ASAP.

Shattered is presented nicely but kind of emotionless without any sound or animation.

Power Quest had a cool battle system and menu, but it goes along kinda slow.

Flameballstick has an interesting non-RPGish battle engine.

Arthur Smith was pretty good except that the enemies are probably too hard without training a lot on the first quest. The title screen was...yeah....

Koinoin is pretty cool with it's protagonist being a monster of some type, but training on the one Scotsman at the beginning is a bit repetitive.

Businessman Plus is another neat idea using a money-based battle system, but the enemies probably have too much health.

BeanBoy RPG is really good and has a solid RPG system going. It even has a separate file for enemy stats. Pretty organized. The movement is dodgy though since it makes it hard to reach places.

I don't have the extensions for Peblo's RPG.

Only in your Memories has a good intro, but could use a better battle system. You can't die and the sword is the size of a butterknife.

Although it somehow didn't make it in, Insect Invasion made great use of library graphics and had a very good battle engine. I guess it didn't get in though because the battle engine has to be separate from the dungeon.

I played them all, well the ones that worked, and mini-reviewed them on the news page. Some were fun, some were not, and far too many of them had the annoying randomly appearing fights like in Final Fantasy. I'd say I like Zapper's Phizzy's and Snerlin's the best.

Mine wasn't even supposed to be counted, I wanted people to see if they could find the problem.

If anyone actually wants to play mine though, you need the Data Store Object 2.0 and the INI object.
