Hey, I was wondering if there is a way or extension that can allow you to play .gym oor .spc sound files from game emulators in TGF? Or even a WinAmp extensions for TGF would help.

Thanks

g to clickteam.com and look for the extension list along the left side, if you can't find it there, it probably doesn't exist.

Your best bet is to either use mp3 versions of these tunes or try to find something to convert them to a midi or wav or something.
Im very sure there is no extension to play gym or spc files, for now at least.

Let me just say that the Gym to midi (and probably the Spc to midi) converters wont produce the results you expect. As in, they generally sound horrible =P.

If you really want to get the music into TGF, then you could go from gym to wave to mp3 (phew). First, play a gym file and record your current audio output. The output at the end of this will be a huge wave file. After that, you'll need a wav to mp3 converter...unfortunately, these programs are rarely for free.

The mp3 file you get at the end probably wont be great in terms of quality, but that's about the only way I can think of.

This program can convert .wav to .mp3:

No, it's not free, but as far as I know there's no limits to it in the demo version.

CDex is a freeware CD ripper, and it can also convert WAV to MP3s.

If you check one of my topics ("guess the tune" or "guess the tune 2") you will find its possible to get an mp3 version of a Megadrive/Genesis tune down to around 200k and it sounds almost perfect.

You can use any of the tunes i ripped if you want.

Go to http://nch.com/au

then download Wave pad... It comes with a program that can convert any type of sound file, to any other type of sound file. Plus, Wave Pad is an awsome sound editing program... and most importantly... its free!!!

Hope this helped

You can convert SPC files to MOD files and use those. You can have it do flawless looping that way too.

Another option, I'm not sure if TGF can do it, but I know that MMF can control Winamp, and Winamp has plugins that allows it to play GYM/SPC files.

I've converted SPC files to MOD files and used them in a game before, and it was absolutely flawless, seemed just like the original, but sadly I'm not sure if there's a utility to convert GYM files to MOD files yet.

You can get the utilities from http://www.zophar.net

TGF has the DMC2 object, which can play .mod files. And MMF has the Modfusion object for .mod files.
