Been waiting over a year scince it was first announced, and its finally within our grasp, Half life 2 potentially the best FPS coming out (we'll see when its out ) but all the reviews & movies indicate its gonna be one helluva game. (Its averaging 97% on game mag reviews)

The physics, gfx, characters and dont forget the mods! Anyone else getting it? ;P (Im getting it via steam's bronze package)

And heres some random screenies;

Bought the silver package

I can't wait either. But i'm also exited to have a play with the mod tools
I'm allready making stuff in the new hammer editor.

I didn't like the old Counter Strike much but the Source version is much nicer

Thumbs up Valve!!

im not looking forward to it that much. i liked the first one but thats it; i *liked* it. probably because im not arsed with mods, i mean i hear people all the time talking about how cool they are because they changed the skin of some alien to a photo of thier car or whatever.

but ill probably get it, somehow.

Im going to buy it in a shop, I hope it works fine on my pc but far cry worked fine on maximum settings so i guess i dont have to worry.
Lets face it, half life 2 wont dissapoint, however i doubt i will ever play online because most people play it too well so you can't enjoy playing it.

i'm getting the DVD version from amazon but i'll want to play Half Life Source (the old game in the new engine) simply as i loved the original so much. i'm sure too that the game won't dissappoint, although i agree with andy that i'll probably never get into counterstrike. i'd have preferred more vanilla multiplayer alongside CS, but, meh.

I most likely won't get it sence:
1: Ailens of almost all shapes and forms in FPS's scare the heck out of me.(I could only watch my brother play Doom 3 for 1 minute at a time)
2: Can't really bother to get it. THOUGH I played Counter-Strike source on a friends and that is SW33T! If Half-Life 2 uses that engine, not many people will be dis appointed.
3: I don't give much crap about FPS's

I love how Valve are converting Half-Life to the Source engine. I always wished Konami would convert Metal Gear Solid to the MGS 2 engine.

No way I'm paying money for this. Won't spend money for something that I have to register to play. What is this? Feels like Big Brother's getting real, 1984 just got a bit late.

They did?!?

Erm anyway. Yeah it sucks you gotta activate it online. Believe it or not, there's still people who don't have internet access. I hate all these new anti-piracy measures, they're getting out of hand. Someone will find a way round it anyway, and it's just inconveniencing innocent people.

oh aye http://www.cube-europe.com/screenshots.php?gid=mgsgc

there will be a crack out for it that works 100% fine. its bound to happen. and what about people who use seperate computers for the internet and gaming, thats a good way to keep a solid/safe games PC but what happens if HL2 is registered to that one internet PC with its crappy 233mhz processor? exactly! bitch fight on coronation street.

Ironically, one of the subplots of the game is the opression of humans by the combine (nasty people wearing masks)

yeah, it felt fucking orwellian even as i was installing it... and waiting 15 minutes to "unlock" the damn thing.

i don't really care, it was worth it . the installation is frustrating though, as is the need to use "steam". i know valve want to protect their revenue source, but it's a step too far. if you buy a DVD or video you don't have to register it with the movie company in order to use it, the same should be true of games - all digital media is essentially the same. HO HUM. anyway, it's an amazing game.

it must be working too, a quick look for a crack has turned up no results. i always get No-CD cracks and i own original games, makes everything so much quicker.

a guy i know just got some package worth £90... what is the damn point in that? what the hell does a £90 game have that a £35 dosnt?

I'm going to play it at a friends house before I committ to buying it. A lot of uber-hyped and highly reviewed titles this year have really disappointed me. Graphics are certainly impressive tho.

I've never played it, but I'd hope this game deserves the hype as opposed to Halo.

Bought HL2 today and I must say it's every bit as awesome as everyone says. I've played for about 6 hours so far, trouble is about an hour of that was loading time. But it's worth the wait. Runs well too, I got all the graphics on high settings in 1024x768 resolution and it runs fine. Groovy and fun and great and nice and bloody cool.
