The Bouncing Key and the Locked Cottage was made for Poppenkast's "Big Compo 01". It is a game in "film noir" style.

It starts out with a man falling in love with a beautiful woman. But she is then suddenly kidnapped! He must rescue her by bouncing the key to the locked cottage in which she is held.

You will have to bounce it through atmospheric cityscapes and into the deep forest. It is tricky arcade gameplay, coupled with a charming story.

Use arrow keys to move and up to jump. Enter key to interact.

Its impossible to get past the tree in the second level, I think you need to fix that. Otherwise its a good game from what I played, the screenshots put me off at first, but the graphic style works well for the game.

Oh and the collision engine is a bit buggy, I ended up getting stuck a lot of times.

Nope, not impossible Image

Just requires a bit of thought.

That said, all the obstacles past the second level are somewhat...lacking.

I haven't noticed that the collision engine is buggy, but I don't think I can fix it either. Thank you for playing the game and commenting

I watched the video of the game in action, and now I feel dumb because the answer to my problem in level 2 is right there!

Why is the file a .htm file?? I can't play it???

To be honest, the game was fairly disappointing. It took forever to finish a level, because the levels were so long and barren, and I couldn't balance the ball for more than five seconds.

On the plus side, the game looked pretty nice.

I like the graphics alot, and the music is very very nice work! I would have enjoyed it more if there had been some more obstacles in the levels since they did seem very sparce at times - maybe some open man-hole covers and kids skating past really fast that would knock you over, costing you time.

Like i said though, great graphics, fantastic music and a real sense of atmosphere in the game world, which is something note easy to create! I'd like to see more of your work sir!

My brother helped me with the music.

Yeah... The obstacles... well, those are great ideas Mark. I didn't have enough time to fill the levels with obstacles since I had a compo deadline to keep.

This was a nice thingie indeed! Very fun concept! The only real bad thing I can think about is the fact that he speeds up way to fast. Good job!
