The Daily Click Recommended Game of the Week Winner

Here it is, the final version of Base Defender and furthermore our first completed game! (Yay )

This game was originally made for the Tourey, it's an action oriented tower defense game. The goal is to defend the power relay at the bottom of the screen from enemies. You can do this by controlling the Protector Unit during combat and by building your defense system inbetween combat rounds.

Manage to protect the relay for 30 rounds and victory is yours!

The game features 3 difficulties and some smashing tunes!

Indepth controls can be found in the "How To Play"-file in the games folder.

Quick note: If anyone manages to beat it on hard, post some proof here so we can stand in awe.

GFX/Programming - Fredrik Jardsell
Music - Joel Fahlberg

Enjoy!

This was awesome! I was on the 30th round, my back row was solid missle launchers, and right and the end....

IT CRASHED! :S

So -1 star for that.

Still a great game
The extra time spent on it seems to have been worth it.
The new control bar graphics are nice, and most importantly, you seem to have got the difficulty right - "hard" actually presents a bit of a challenge now.

Thanks for the positive feedback!
There seems to be some unknown bug somewhere, but I assure you, I have thouroughly fine combed the code for this bug. I suspect it's one of the cursed MMF internal bugs. This was made in MMF1.2, and uses a whole lot of individual actives, groups switching on and off all the time, and some quite complex actions. I'm gonna check and re-check the code, but I suspect it's something similar to the bad-object bug.

But on a positive note, I have played this VERY MANY times, and it has never crashed, though twice it has had object display bugs. But it's fairly stable anyway!

I decided to sell all of my stuff on round 19 or something and I couldn't build anything else- as in, I could place nodes down but couldn't add turrets to the tops of them, despite having 10000+ credits.

It's probably the same bug acting up, cause it isn't due to the coding. It seems more like a memory issue or something, mmf not finding the data for stuff. Gonna check things out and then make a patch. I apologize for all the frustration folks!

This is really awesome! You've done well to make the game feel unified. The music is great too.

I found the actual game quite hard however. I don't think the turrets come into the game enough. When you buy them they are relatively useless and not really worth the money spent. If they were able to aim at the closest enemy or something (even if they were weak) similar then I think they would be much better.

I also wasn't too fond of the shooting. I just didn't like having to aim exactly on the enemies, rather than in their direction.

Those are just some things to maybe consider next time, but they're just little things. Overall it's a great game!

Great game! It's quite fun to play, but there's some little problems.

It's pretty hard and too slow-paced; it takes many play times to find the best strategy. I think the number of enemies should grow faster.

The music is good, but I got bored when a tune repeats again and again. (especially in easy mode) Maybe music track should change when it has played long enough. No own track for menu, because player stays there only a few seconds.

The "spread turret" upgrade for the protector was more like a downgrade...

...Other than that, a brilliant game! Very enojoyable for a long time. Just great!

Thanks for all the feedback guys!

The spread fire upgrade doesn't affect your ordinary turret which you control with the mouse, it adds an extra turret on the unit. With it you can be destroying things on two places at once!

I'm very psyched for a sequel! With proper planning, things will be more balanced!

Thanks!

I've just discovered a bug. At wave 12 or 13 I couldn't buy anymore structures (yea, I know that's 'sposed to happen), but even after I sold everything I had (except one structure that I COULDNT sell), I couldnt buy any new stuff.

Toxic: That's a horrible, horrible little bug! I'm working my a** of trying to find a remedy for it. The problematic detail is that I'm now 99% sure it's not a bug due to the code, it's something more devilish! Hopefully I'll get it resolved, when I do I'll upload a patch!

Mark: Thanks for the review!

I liked this. Innovative concept and solid execution. A bit too hard for my taste. But it definitely stays on my HD.

great game, but that bug is a real pain in the arse. Good luck ironing that one out fella.

I have seen alot of games around now built on this concept and actually one blatant rip-off without lending any credit where it's due.

Kind of funny really
Speaks of the genious of the idea i guess
