Shining Valour is an attempt at making my own version of Shining Force.

Shining Force is a top-down console rpg for the Sega Megadrive/Genesis. Basically, you move your character through towns and wilderness. The roaming side of the game is punctuated by frequent battles. These battles are not random like Final Fantasy (thank god...), but are pre-set tactical affairs, sort of like chess.

This is only a demo, and features one town and one battle. Many features found in Shining Force are missing here, but I hope you still enjoy it!

Keys:
Esc - quit
Arrow keys - move
Space - interact with things, bring up menu, close conversation window
Control - cancel, close conversation window, close menu

Oh yeh, and there are plenty of bugs in there somewhere. Just try to ignore em!

Great game, although I've never played Shining Force...But still, it has the look and feel of an old Sega Role Player! :)

Cool, thanks for the praise! This is pretty short and buggy though - I just made it because someone said to me that you couldn't make a proper Shining game in MMF...

Thats a good article Chicken - my excuse is that I was trying to capture the true flavour of the Shining Force games, and thus grid-like tiles are a necessity :)

looks good, downloaderating shouldn't we be reporting bugs rather than just ignoring them? {ponder}

This is truly awesome...i wonder how the conversations and things were made ...

The conversations were made with great difficulty... Kris - good point. There are a heap of bugs in this demo release. Report away, because I'm going to start the whole game from scratch to build a good solid engine.

Downloading. Shining Force was (is) one of the best series SEGA ever had on their machines. So this'll be fun :)

Now I don't have 100%? Well cheers... Just wait everyone - this demo is nothing compared to how the full Chapter One will look and play... :)

Not bad, not bad. The character movements are a bit weird. Like you said, still plenty of bugs in there. Game crashed a few times...

Lol @ the Sam guy, theres a bug with the speech box, Im guessing you set the positition to someone on screen, then done the sliding up bit with an animation, make sure it can't set position when its ALREADY on screen =P Nice one though, looking forward to the full game, just make sure you finish it XD.
