WINNERS 2002
Aran's Top 5 Games
Winners | Andy's Top 5 | Jonathan's Top 5 | Tom's Top 5 | Top 5 Overall
First Place: Duncan Fenn
Submission: Gravitorb 2
Aran's Score: 47/60
Comments: This game is a lot of fun, and very unique. The concept is simple, but the game is also very challenging. It is one of those games you can just start up and get into right away, and this makes for great gaming. With the added ability to create your own maps, it really extends the replay value.

Second Place: Jim Biggs
Submission: Soccer Freak
Aran's Score: 40/60
Comments: Another great and simple game, very addicting. I really like the online scoring system, it gives you a real sense of competition. Even if you aren't up for competing, it is always fun to start up and test your reflexes.

Third Place: Domenico Vona and Fabio Vona
Submission: G.A.R.J.I.L.
Aran's Score: 36/60 (Tied For Third)
Comments: When I first started playing this game, I was very frustrated. But as I played it, I started to really enjoy it, probably because I was getting better at it. Having to "build" your way to the exit makes for a very interesting experience.

Third Place: Hayo van Reek
Submission: Fishhead 3: The Search For a Heart of Gold
Aran's Score: 36/60 (Tied For Third)
Comments: I really like the atmosphere this game presents, it feels like a different place to me. Little details like water splashing as you run over the waterfalls really adds to this. The engine also seems very well done, so the gameplay is real solid.

Fifth Place: Ashley Linahan
Submission: Yeah Guys Ultra
Aran's Score: 35/60 (Tied For Fifth)
Comments: Though the single player AI is not that challenging, I found the 2 player mode in this game to be very fun. When playing against an intelligent opponent the place becomes very frantic.

Fifth Place: Robin Christensen
Submission: Fireball
Aran's Score: 35/60 (Tied For Fifth)
Comments: While this game is plagued with bugs, and the standard MMF ball movement, at its core Fireball is a very enjoyable game. The combination of the particle effects from the ball and the dreary sounds that cry out when you destroy a brick really give this game a unique feel.

Fifth Place: Yair Charutz
Submission: Computer Handyman
Aran's Score: 35/60 (Tied For Fifth)
Comments: This game turned out to be quite fun, as soon as I learned to jump. I think it is a neat concept, having to get from computer to computer. A bit of stratergy involved, whether intended or not, by placing the lifts up or down to keep your enemies away from your area. And a little clinking sound when the wrench drops, how cool is that?!

Fifth Place: Adam Osgood
Submission: Destiny: Chapter One
Aran's Score: 35/60 (Tied For Fifth)
Comments: An action RPG based on the He-Man universe, a very interesting concept. This game is really a great change of pace. The story line and lore are very interesting, and I never felt bored reading through the dialog.

Fifth Place: Mĺrten Brüggemann
Submission: Red Feud
Aran's Score: 35/60 (Tied For Fifth)
Comments: Red Feud's simple, but interesting graphics style reminded me of a classic Nintendo platformer, for the most part. The game plays out through a variety of locations, all featuring unique creatures to slice and dice.

Fifth Place: Gurgen Bakhshetsyan
Submission: Magma Gamez Collection
Aran's Score: 35/60 (Tied For Fifth)
Comments: This "collection" actually consists of two games. The first, Clickanoid, is a fast paced bat and ball game. It is very well crafted, and has some very interesting powerups. The second game, Gug, is a platformer taking after the well known Zeb. The platform engine is very well made, making for a very solid platform game.

Fifth Place: Ted Sterchi
Submission: Orange Hunt!
Aran's Score: 35/60 (Tied For Fifth)
Comments: Orange Hunt is a very interesting game; the hand drawn intro put me off at first, but seeing it spring to life at the start menu was very cool. The game play is simple, and easy at first, but it proceeds to get more difficult as you play.
