Questions & Answers
When is the competition deadline?
Submissions must be received BEFORE August 28. This means that you game must have been sent to us
on August 27 at the latest.
Do I need Multimedia Fusion (MMF) 1.5 to enter the competition?
You can make your game using any Klik product available, but we ask that you convert it to MMF
1.5 format before submitting it to the competition. This can be achieved by downloading the MMF 1.5
demo from the Clickteam website.
Do I need to enter both The Daily Click and the Mode 7 ex competition?
No, you can enter only The Daily Click competition if you wish. You do not need to use the Mode 7
ex object, nor any other Cellosoft extension, in order to enter this competition. Both competitions
will be judged seperately.
I read that Clickteam will possess the non-exclusive rights to my game. What does
this mean, and will I still be able to distribute my submission myself?
Clickteam may decide to include your game on their website, on future MMF CDs, or via any other
media they choose, as an example of what can be achieved by the software. You will still be able to
publish and/or distribute your game, all this means is you are allowing Clickteam to distribute your
game as well.
Will Clickteam be distributing the source code to my game?
After a lot of discussion, we have decided not to distribute your source code unless you
specifically specify otherwise during the submission process. This means that your code, graphics,
and all other elements of your game will remain restricted from other users. We still ask that you
submit your game as an uncompiled CCA file, however, as we will need to check the file for malicious
code before we run it on our computers.
I am not using MMF 1.5 to create my game, only to convert it to the required format.
Will my game get special consideration since I am not using the advanced features which are included
with MMF 1.5?
Sorry, we cannot give you special consideration.
Will simply submitting my game to The Daily Click enter it into the
competition?
No, you will need to submit your game using the "Submit Your Game" link on the competition
homepage. This is because we require personal details, whereas submitting your game to The Daily
Click does not have these requirements.
Can I submit more than one game to the competition?
Yes, of course you can.
What sort of game do I need to make to enter the competition? Is there a specific
theme or genre?
There are no restrictions placed on your submission, you can create any type of game you wish
provided it does not break any of the competition rules.
Can I submit demos to the competition, or does it need to be a full
version?
Yes, you can submit demos to the competition, however we would prefer you call the part of your
game you submit "Chapter 1" (or something along those lines) rather than using the term
"Demo". This is simply to show you have completed a definite and significant part of your
project.
Can I submit a game I have already been working on for the competition?
Of couse! All we ask is that you convert it to MMF 1.5 format before submitting it. Note: even if
we didnt want people submitting games they have been working on for some time, there would be no way
in which to ensure the honesty of applicants when prompted with this regulation.
Can I use third party extensions in my games?
Yes, provided the extensions are bug free, and not copyrighted. Unless otherwise stated by the
author, please remember to mention them in the game credits.
I have been attempting to contact Izzy to find out if I can use his DMC 2 object,
but the website seems to be down. What should I do?
Izzy has granted permission for all entrants to use his DMC 2 object, which will allow game
makers to add alternative music and sound formats to their games. Thanks Izzy!
The competition rules stated that I cannot use any copyrighted material. What if I
get permission from the original author of the media?
If you inform the author of the material that you wish to use his/her material in a competition,
and that you game may be distributed with or without profit, and they agree to let you use the media
then there is no problem. Please include a copy of the email, and the authors email address, with
your submission.
If I win, how will I receive the prizes?
Clickteam will send the prizes out by regular mail once the winners have been
announced.
Do I get all of the prizes listed, or just my choice of one?
You will receive all of the prizes mentioned on the "What You Can Win" page.
Can groups enter this competition?
Yes, you can work together with a group of people for this competition. Unfortunately we cannot
send a copy of each of the prizes to each group member (apart from DC points), so you will need to
specify who gets what prize during the registration process.
Do I really need parental concent to enter this competition?
There is a problem with people under the age of 18 entering into a contract. You will need to
have parent or guardian concent to enter this competition. If we discover that you did not have the
appropriate concent, your prize will be forfeited should you win.
How will you be able to tell if I'm over 18?
Simply by clicking the "I Agree" button you are entering into a legal contract. If we discover
that you are under the age of 18, and you dont have concent to enter the competition, your prize
will be witheld.
I am under 18, but I live by myself. Do I still need to get a parent or guardians
concent?
You do not need a parent or legal guardians concent to enter the competition if you are
under the age of 18 and living by yourself, provided the court has granted you emancipation. Please
contact me as soon as possible (before the deadline) as we will need to organise special
consideration.
