I didn't know how private you wanted me to keep this, but I'll just put it here.
I haven't played all the way through yet, but this is what I've gathered so far:
Once you take the time to get used to the controls, they're great. They are hard at first but it needs to be a bit challenging. The balance of enemies and level length so far has been superb.
The only bug I've encountered so far is that I could fly underwater in the level with the submarines. O_o I died on that level and it didn't restart. That's when I stopped playing-- I'll try to continue past that level next time I play.
The ONLY issue I have with this otherwise well-thought-out game is the music. Not only is it obviously stock (but only because I'm familiar with clickteam's music), but it's actually quite annoying. It's not quite epic enough and a bit too bouncy and repetitive. I would highly recommend contacting Johan Hargne about a soundtrack for this game, it would really help. http://johan.hargne.se/
More feedback when I play it some more later.
By the way, everything else is fantastic. The art, programming, and general entertainment aspect is very professional. I congratulate you on an awesome job so far.
I send bugs via PMs at TDC (about 20 from whole game). But I want also to make some suggestions.
1) I think that better from arrows enter and space would be WSAD ctrl and space because the are under one hand and are just more comfortable.
2) Also in submarine bonus mission I think that it would be better to have got similar controls to plane and not arrows and shift (WTH? shift wasn't earlier used for nothing so why here?)
3) It would be nice to see some splash water effects, when planes are falling into it, submarines emerging etc also the water area is very poor comparing to land areas.
4) Also falling down throught earth of parachuters etc is silly IMHO, it would be better if ther would land on earthand change to that normal soldiers (I don't suggest them to die but only to land like troops).
5) And I agree with OMC, music is really recognizable and was used for example in Shooting Starts 1, so I suggest to change it and Johan would be awesome choice.
* The submarine level is bugged. Even if you die you don't die (You just sink to the bottom, not be able to shoot but still move ) And yes the shift button for the submarine level doesn't seem right. You need to improve the controls on general or make a options sections for reconfiguring the controls.
* Also we don't see the speed of the submarine on the top left, like we see on the planes...
Will report more when seen
EDIT: Also there is no way to return to the main menu while in a combat or while dead
* Just tried out the level editor and uploaded a sample level. And saw that even if I'm on the allied side, other allied planes also shoot me The soldiers can walk on water and sometimes the placement of the tiles mess up the entire map. The Level editor needs some serious development in my opinion.
EDIT: When loading a downloaded map on the level editor (like werewolfs map), it just opens a blank map with nothing on it. It might have been only on my pc but it might be effective on the game as a whole. I haven't tried it on other maps yet.
@steve: The map that werewolf uploaded is available on the extra level section of the game. I just tried to open it in the level editor but it was blank :S
Does it just redownload everytime you want to play a custom level uploaded to the server?
Also you should probably make it so that when axis and allied soldiers confront each other, they should shoot Cause they aren't doing anything so far.
That's a good idea actually with the soldiers. I'll only make them shoot when they are view, so you can see little wars going on as you fly over. Ace idea.
Yes the level gets downloaded each time you try to play it. Mainly to stop people tinkering with the level files as I haven't encrypted them or anything.
With the walking on water soldiers. You need to manually place detectors to make them change direction. The detectors are in the game mechanic objects menu. I need to mention that in the instructions
Pressing Space bar when the General is still talking drops bombs. This also happens when your plane crashes and you can still lose bombs.
On level 4, When I crashed at the end, it didn’t question me if I would like to restart the level.
On level 5, When I crashed, It didn’t take me to the restart screen.
When I finished the level “Dogfight!” There was no success screen.
I won the mission, “Hit em where it hurts”, but it said I failed the mission.
I lost “Those pesky parachutists!” but it said I won (I’m sure it was intended but it seems kinda weird.) And after I continued it took me to “Smash and grab!”
When I eject out of the plane, I can still control it.
I agree... this is a very fun and entertaining game, but I would suggest making a few more levels. And yeah, ask Johan for help with music; he's got some mind blowing work.
Thanks for all this valuable feedback guys I really do appreciate it. I've fixed a couple of the smaller bugs, but won't be on my comp much until Saturday now, so i'll blitz through lots more then.
If Johan isn't available, I can make music. I have the ability to create orchestrated music here at home (sounds quite real and cinematic) and could make an epic WWII soundtrack. In OGG format or MP3 whatever you would need.
Here is an example of my work. It's not in the style I just mentioned, but it does have some orchestration in it. The song is from a band I was in a year ago. The song is rough and was never finished (doesn't even have a bass track in it) but it should show the quality of work nonetheless.
