Dynabrick is an action puzzle platformer. You play as Dynabot, a small robot that has crash landed on a beautiful planet and left spaceship parts and cargo scattered across the landscape. It is your job to guide Dynabot through the puzzling and maze like planet made up of different types of brick that interact with each other in various ways.

Dynabot can trigger the bricks by shooting at them, this has various effects depending on the brick you have triggered.
For example, metal bricks are indestructable.
Dynamite bricks explode and destroy various other bricks.
Water, oil and sand bricks flow and mix in various ways.
Dynabots cargo (lots of green glowing cubes) either explodes in glorious green flames or can be used to recharge Dynabot and keep him going as the levels get progressively more challenging.

There are a whole lot of other cool bricks with different properties and I will be adding more as time goes by.

The game will be released with a level editor and custom brick creator.

I recently got a new artist on board to help flesh out cut-scenes and backdrop art and develop the new main character with me. This person is Matthew Wills (the Cannibal Cartoonist) of Quarantine comics, you can check out his work here!

Dynabrick website under construction!
Posted 6th Apr 12, by Rox Flame Post A Comment
Hello everyone!

The development of Dynabrick has taken me a very long time indeed, and there are many reasons for this.

1st reason being that I am running a company these days, making websites and virtual tours. This has been a huge priority and finding time for things like Dynabrick and my music projects has been put aside for quite a long time.

I'm here to say, I have not forgotten this project, not by a long shot. I have actually over the last year or so done quite a bit of work on it on the side.

There are a lot of things I'd love to post here, but main thing I have to say, is that a new website for the game is being constructed at dynabrick.roxflame.com

Here I will be posting updates and an in depth wiki for all the bricks and their individual properties. This is also the website where I will be publishing the game when it's finished.

There will be a free version of the game which I will release first, and then very cheap paid expansions of extra bricks and levels to go on top. With all the time I've sunk into this, I figured that monetising it is a good option, and if I succeeded in making decent sales, then I can realistically devote far more time in game development, and create my next game with the help of my company employees! (which I've been planning for a long time and I assure you, you will all absolutely love).
I have full intention of releasing iOS, flash, and Android versions of this game after I'm done, but it's looking to be a bit further down the track.

I have been talking to some music producers recently about making some really awesome music for the game, and also been making a really cool island map with my new drawing tablet to give the game levels some context and improve the flow of everything.

KEEP YOUR EYES PEELED! I'll be uploading videos and screenshots of the progress very soon!
Back in the game

Hey everyone.

This game has been on hold for freakin ages due to insane amounts of work I have... BUT, ive decided to re-begin work on it anyway. Not sure of the pace of the updates at this stage but i have a regained passion to get this thing finished. Most likely an hour or so of work a night so I can put the rest of my spare time into my web development stuff thats been keeping this from being done.

Anyway, first stop; get the ice bricks working and fix some bugs and get beta testing back into full swing and nail this thing.
[edit: and by ice i mean ghost, and I've now awesomely got them working]

Anyone whom is interested in helping me test this thing would be a legend. I have decided to put the beta of the game into a Dropbox folder, which means anyone with dropbox can beta test this thing live, as in, everytime I make an update or another beta tester adds some levels, it automatically updated on your computer too!

For those of you keen that dont yet have dropbox, follow my dropbox referral link (gives us both a bonus 250mb) http://bit.ly/dynabrick
and then once you have created your account, I will be informed you joined and I can invite you to the shared dynabrick folder. Easy!

Those of you that would rather not install dropbox (which is amazing btw) can contact me to have a copy sent to them.

The last few weeks have seen some great improvements to the Dynabrick engine. All bricks have been recoded to comply with my new alterable properties system which will enable easy implementation of a custom brick editor! You heard right, not just a level editor, but also a brick editor! The list of possible properties for bricks is quite large and includes all sorts of great special abilities and effects that can be applied, the editor engine also allows for custom graphics for the bricks.

The game now has fully working energy and laser beams (with line of sight). I will be releasing Beta for level creation and bug testing in the next couple of days. Also expect some new gameplay vids and interface images to be posted.
