Project Overview
Image

Based on my Mouse-controlled entry recently, I have decided to remake the game, but add more to the gameplay and improve the graphics.

Original n00by entry can be found here: http://lowflyingcow.googlepages.com/Lilykin.zip

The majority of the graphics are being remade made in Photoshop. Id like the game to have a realistic feel to it, also photoshopped graphics are a lot quicker (and easier) to make than pixel art. Ive also found ways of making water look nicer, using filters, shadows and ripples etc.

The game is inspired by many games, really. Kuru Kuru Kururin for the GBA, Kororinpa for the Wii are a couple.

The theme/story is based on a child's recreation of life in a stream. So everything will have been made from materials/look like it's been crafted by a child (fingers crossed)

More to come...

Game production Neglect...
Posted 28th Jun 08, by Ski 8 Comments
I've been working on so many different projects lately, I go from one to another constantly. However, Lilykin was becoming neglected,so this evening I decided to do some work on it. I guess I get really easily put off it, due to the large size of the mfa file. 93MB and it has 5 frames ...although the exe is only 32MB when zipped and compressed...

Anyway, Ive decided I don't care about file sizes anymore, if people want to download the final game, they can.

Good News and Bad News

The Good news is I have a new story for the game, and it's pretty short, simple but solid, and works well with the game IMO.

Bad news... I built a test of the title screen and menu screen, and the file size for those two was 18MB alone, so don't expect a small file size here, folks- it will be pretty big. I'm using a lot of large objects, animations and PNGs, and a lot of the graphics are edited photography from my back garden >_<; Oh well, most people nowadays don't have download limits, I guess?
A credit to Nim

Just to say that I am using a smooth scrolling example Nim made a while back. I'm not sure if it's still available, but it's been a god-send. I use it in very project I start nowadays

That is all \ /
Meh, WIP stuff

So I haven't actually worked on Lilykin for a couple of weeks. Ive had graphics to make for people, and I also like to toggle between pixel-art and photoshop art... depends what mood I'm in. Any howski, here's a quick vid of what the gameplay may be like.

Please note some things may and probably will change
