News posted Today by Muz 19 Comments
The cute Ariane Odyssey wins this week's GOTW with 21 votes, a far margin from the other GOTW contestants. This week looks like a tough competition, with some really great games, and some other entertaining ones, as well as an application.

New Games: Friendly-Strike 3 and Hatman
News posted 5th October, 2008 by Simon Colmer 5 Comments
Words can’t explain how fun and amazing this click game is. Friendly-Strike 3 created by the French Developer TheCalimero contains some very user friendly in-game and menu graphics. Not only are you able to play against your friends on the same computer, it has the ability of using ‘bots’ (computer controlled enemy) and also online play. Friendly-Strike 3 has to one of the most impressive online click games I have seen for a long time. Working off the ‘Complex-Softwares’ server, the game has little lag and lots of game play.

Some words from the author: “Friendly-Strike 3 is the worthy successor of its big brother Friendly-Strike 2. It’s still a 2D fast-paced shoot/platform game, and certainly one of the funniest ways to play with your friends
Fight you friends or the computer. Up to 4 players can join a game! (Of course, you may play in cramped conditions but it’s possible). And if you don't have any friends close to you at the moment, you can also play with the CPUs, with an advanced AI and 4 difficulty levels!...”

Hatman
Yesterday I downloaded the game Hatman and from start to finish it kept my attention and even my house mates were impressed with this one. A classic retro feel, Hatman is about a man with a hat (yes that’s right, A HAT) and your throw it like a boomerang to kill your enemies and to get out of tight situations. May sound simple enough but this game is actually really nicely displayed and the music isn’t half bad either!

Comments from the Author: “HatMan is a platformer with a single twist; your main attack is the throwing of your hat, not unlike a boomerang.
The object of each level is to defeat the boss at the end, while along the way collecting coins. The faster you do all of this, the more of a time bonus (the blue bar on the top) you get.
The hat can be aimed with the UP and DOWN keys, and thrown with the X key. The player may jump with the Z key, and also throw the hat in the air…”

New Game: Project Luigi
News posted 4th October, 2008 by Simon Colmer 2 Comments
We finally get to see some working demo’s from the long awaited Project Luigi. This may be only a demo level to test out the game engine and iron out bugs, buts it’s extremely obvious this game has some potential.

Some words from the author: “This is the first released demo of Project Luigi which features the tutorial world and the test level. It's not much, but it's something...”

New Game: Axiebal 7
News posted 30th September, 2008 by Rikus 2 Comments
First I have to complement Hendrik with a very cool first name, it just needs a "US" to make it even more perfect, anyhow with his ultra cool name he also brings us cool game. The game in question is called Axiebal 7, prepare yourself for gaming yumminess, if that is not a word, well then it should be! Woohoo!

Comments from Hendrik: The most recent episode in the Axiebal-series is still a mix of skill, puzzles and action, but that´s about all it has in common with its predecessors. This time you control the ball from a top-down-view. The (now scrolling) levels are bigger, the visual effects more spectacular and the soundeffects cooler! Guide the little ball through the levels, avoid all the dangers and pull off some terrifying stunts to obtain all the flags! It even contains a leveleditor, so if you want to, you can create your own levels or change the existing ones!

New Game: Lil' pirate
News posted 29th September, 2008 by Rikus 3 Comments
Andyuk brings you his new masterpiece: Lil pirate. This is a great platformer that should brighten up your monday!

Comments from Andy UK: LP has won a cruise on a replica pirate ship! but shortly before it reaches the adventure island it is destroyed by a big fireball. He swims to shore and sets about finding a way home. There are various collectibles in the form of weapons or powerups. There are various collectibles in the form of weapons or powerups. You can also stop off at one of the many shops along the way. Sometimes a certain weapon might be required to reach a certain area in a level and some areas might be completely hidden, trust me there are a lot of secrets to find, sometimes with extra lives or sometimes a few coins.

Photographs in the game are provided by The Motley Pixel DSLR Lens review web site. If you like Araknoid and DX Ball, you'll LOVE PixelSmash!”

Bring ‘em Back
Today’s BeB is a game released back in 2004 called Shining Armour created by Jake from Natomic Studios. It’s a nice little platformer of which you play a knight (with no body) called Hector and the idea is to…well you will just have to find out. With some awesome graphics and custom game engine its no wonder it’s a Natomic Studios game, well worth a download.

Comments from the Author: “Tis a tale, of a young man in a strange medieval world, he's on his way to rescue the Princess Celia from the evil Sorceress Gezel, or is he...
You take the roll of this man on his quest, Hector is thy name, and oddities are his game, and it's up to you to save the day!”

New Game: Pork and Bring 'em Back
News posted 24th September, 2008 by Simon Colmer 18 Comments
With little submissions this week, it’s nice to see a game like this one. Pork is an original puzzle concept game developed by Toxic Avenger; even though its game span is short it’s easy to see potential when it comes to game play.

Comments from the Author: "Planet earth is being invaded by aliens and mankind’s last hope lies in the retired N.Y.P.D detective Max Viland. Unfortunately, the aliens have released all of Max's pigs since they know that without them he can't use his fabulous super-duper powers - the pork must be saved"

With a twist of a story and a simple enough concepts this game is a nice little time waster which makes you to want to keep playing. This game is worth taking a look at.

Bring ‘em Back
Today’s spotlight to the BeB parade is a game release back in 2002 called Watkins. It has lovely quirky graphics and a comedic storyline. Not a game to be taken seriously (which will become obvious once started) but still a fun game all the same. Try and beat all 30 levels :S to regain control of the South Pole which has been stolen from Watkins grandfather.

Comments from the Author: “Watkins is a penguin with a mission and a slingshot. He has to make his way through 35 levels in 4 worlds, facing moose’s, scorpions and more, to face the evil Davy Jones.”

So if you want to help get Watkins’s South Pole back (man that sounds dodgy) then go take a look

Bring ‘em Back
News posted 23rd September, 2008 by Simon Colmer 26 Comments
Hey all, new idea that has been brought forward by Peblo and Borgi – “Bring ‘em Back”.
The idea is to show off old games which were good but maybe didn’t get enough showing off in its time (or maybe they did but deserve to be shown off again).

It’s always a good idea to remember the past, and with the huge collection of games in the archives it would be awesome to bring back those games which we all love.

So if you have any old favourites which you would like to be relived then send me a mail or attach a comment and we shall see what we can do.
