Go Pete!
I agree so much!
At least with the restrain
your mouth stuff. People
post stuff they really
shouldn't.

I'd hope I was a middle-class
citizen in that Greek TDC.

-Above post is ancient and probably irrelevant-

An old account of mine, recently cleared out. It's a blast to the past, the age was marked as 14 when I found it. If you know where to look, you can track me. Au revoir.

"And there's one thing about freedom of speach, you can say anything as long as it doesn't infringe on others' freedom"

mabye that should be a rule here
i dont know if there is a list of rules anywhere ive never looked, but if so you could add some about writing offensivly unless its already there.

oh an try to remember everyone that this site is about games isnt it?
spend less time trying to prove yourself right about whatever and more time making those lovely games or awfull as the case may be.

Yeah, good point, Andy, nobody else has brought up. This site is all about our games, and the boards are pretty much secondary.

*sigh* Ok, let me repeat this again. The DC is not required by ANY law to have freedom of speech. Just like you are not required by ANY law to have freedom of speech in your house. Using the DC is a privilege, not a right.

Also, I get the feeling some of you are complaining just for the sake of complaining. Really, the admins here are not even that strict. Most people are obviously happy with the DC, if they weren't, then the DC would not be so popular. Everyone should just calm down and have fun for a change.

99 percent chance that the above post is 100 percent correct.

Anyway this is just a freaking click community, the way you lot go on and on, anyone would think you run some kind of goverment agency..

Just shut up, respect the admins and get on with it, and if you don't like it, piss off!

and if you don't like what just said, then screw you, you retarded buggers!

Pete:
You should've just put this in an article and nail a link it to the front page. At least everyone would read it that way.

Or better yet, instead of comparing the DC to a goverment, compare it to a business. If you don't like the product, don't use it. Simple as that. And tell everyone that there's no customer complaint booth and that the managers are busy .

"Hitler was legally elected by the German people and abused his power. We have not been elected to run this site, we simply do..."
> It's despotism, then. About as bad as Nazism. At least if you were Nazis, you'd be executing the people who prefer the other sites like um... Total Klik. Wait... Total Klik is dead. Coincidence or assassination?

"we're the admins. you're not"
> That line is really gonna knock down your popularity with some people. It's just like saying "we're the government, and there's nothing you can do about it". At least there's no taxes? We don't have rights till you tax us.

Andyuk:
I think all the fights and revolutionary actions are confined to the forums and the comments in the downloads page. I bet 75% of the DC members don't even know that the others are complaining outside articles and comments.

Oh, and I agree with Mr Coffee's signature and what Ashman said about tabloids and documentaries.

Disclaimer: Any sarcasm in my posts will not be mentioned as that would ruin the purpose. It is assumed that the reader is intelligent enough to tell the difference between what is sarcasm and what is not.

yeah muz, i admit that is a bit harsh, but let's face it... it's true. the members of DC are here on shadowcaster's terms, and the admins are the enforces of said terms. if they chose to disagree to the terms, they should leave. what is annoying me is that people are expecting a democratic public service from this site which we never pledged to give.

Oh man...is that what happens here when have a few days of partying.

I don't really have the time or the patience to read all of this crap, but I kinda understand what people are saying. At least I hope.

Of course not all of you are as laid back and down to earth as some people, ie me . So it means you going to take everything people saying to your or about you serious enough to take offense to it.

My question is why be so uptight?

Why live your life going...oh no he said something about my mum/race/colour/accent/nerdism, and have a big whinge and quarrel about it.
This is how stupid things like wars start. Sure, without a doubt there are dickheads and bullies out there who find it fun throwing abuse at people...especially when they react. The best thing to do in that situation is ignore it, especially when it just totally unreasonable and untruthful, and move on.

Why listen to something someone says when there is no truth in it, and is merely directed at you just to spark a negative reaction?

Most of you people would be nothing like me and my mates. Just as an example, i'll use my trip to the beach yesterday as an example...
I'm hungover and we're driving along. I'm swearing my arse off cause i'm in pain. And basically I refer to my mates as dickheads, c**nts, and constantly telling them to f**k off...and you know how they react? They laugh! Yes, laugh! And I laugh, and we all start laughing. Cause these are merely words that have lost their meanings and if your taking offense to them you are a simply a prisoner of social shaping, and you need to learn how to relax!

That's my 2 cents. Words arn't harmful...especially over the internet! Get a sense of humour!

You have a point, Muggus, but it's far more difficult to tell the tone of something when it's written down over the Internet, and what might be harmless to you could offend others.

Yeah, but Muggus theyre your mates, everyones like that with their friends. Youve gotta realise that not everyone is your friend ,theoretically, maybe your some kindof of really great person that everyone likes, but in a place like this you just cant presume things. I agree people should be more laid back, but I cant tell them to be.
Like Petes overquoted comment:
'we're the admins. you're not.'
I didnt take this statement personally, its just his way of being serious and having a laugh. However it is slightly ironic that the admins can make a joke about certain touchy topics, whilst others cant, but the ultimate fact is: if I dont like it I dont have to be here.
But come on, imagine how boring it would be if everyone agreed with everyone else!

True 'freedom' cannot work.

For example, let's say person A is a buddhist, and person B is some madman who hates all Buddhists.

If person B has the freedom of speech to post all his slander about person A, person A has lost HIS freedom not to be discriminated against in public.

Conversely, if person A is given the freedom not to be discriminated against, person B has lost HIS freedom to discriminate.

Censorship isn't about doing what everyone is happy with, it's about doing what the censoror considers morally correct.

So no, proper freedom (of speech or anything else) is not only nonexistent, but it is also impossible.
