I dunno.. it seems that the world has run dry of RPGs and adventure games. Which quite sad really. The RPG world used to really suck, with dungeon romps that actually included graph paper for you to draw the maps. But I miss games like Fallout 2 and Baldur's Gate 2. Neverwinter Nights still has plenty of new stuff, but it's fun... yet not that fun somehow. Elder Scrolls is just too damn complicated for me with all those choices and stuff. I also remembered a fun little game made in VB by the name of Mordor 2/Infinite Worlds/some other name with a lot of apostrophes.

I miss those old games. These new games are too easy or too complicated. They're like either complete button mashers, button mashers where you have to mash them in the right order, or complicated games based on advanced game theory that take so many interface clicks that you'd forget your quests if they didn't have a quest log.

I want Interplay back .

Final Fantasy IV Advance is out this month, if that's any consolation. And Mario and Luigi Partners in Time.

Meh, the FF games weren't as fun after 7. It went from focus on a deep, epic storyline, to focus on a deep, epic games. Which means epic battles. Which means battling the same things over and over and over again... using the same moves, drinking the same healing potions, etc...

I'd pay for a remake of FF7 with better graphics, less bugs, and maybe a few added in stuff. Oh well, at least there's Kingdom Hearts II. And hopefully Fallout 3.

Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon are in development for XBox360 by a bunch of ex-Square guys. Both games are looking very impressive so far. There's also rumors that Sega is working on a third Shenmue game (not really an RPG, but equal to them in depth and story).

World of Warcraft is all I need for right now though -- and there's an expansion coming in a year or so.

I miss Interplay and the days when single-player RPGs ruled over MMORPGs .

Oh well, at least this gives my (attempted) RPG(s) a better chance at looking better than commercial games. Considering the fact that the best RPG I've seen recently was that new Bard's Tale, I don't think there's too much to look forward to in terms of RPG depth from now on .

I'm also waiting for the new Earthbound. The one for the Super Nintendo was far more random than it looked at first. Me likes random

Go play Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines. It was the last game Troika made before going under, and Troika was formed by the 3 key teammembers that made the fallout series, so... well, it's a great game...

I tried the first one, wasn't a big fan. That said I'm not really a fan of most computer RPG's, but fallout1/2 will always hold a special place on my shelf. (Though fallout 1 refuses to work on my 2K box.)

The only other computer "RPG's" I regularly play would be System Shock 2.

(OOES! that's right, the System Shock team is working on a spiritual successor to SS, called Bio shock or something.)

I guess Hitman: Blood Money isn't the only reason for my to upgrade my rig.

VTM Bloodlines was damn good. Only problem is that it had far too many loading times (with the approx 1 min loading time going in AND out of a building to collect one little item). I think I built about 2 kg of muscle exercising while waiting for the loading times. If the loading times were fewer or shorter, I think I'd replay that game about 5 more times. Fable's also another great game if you like that kind of thing.

Fallout 3's going to come out? Seems like there's no hype on its development. Fallout 2 was great, it's only problem was the really, really slow turn-based engine and the loading times back on the old comps. That and maybe a lack of replayability (though once you've replayed long game like that a few times, you learn everything in the game). But if you combine the superb combat engine of Fallout Tactics with the RPG-ness of Fallout 2... you'll have a true masterpiece.

I count Metroid Prime games as RPGs... they're the sort of game that makes you feel like you are the character AND you're going on an adventure.

Haven't played MP, but if it's only available on the GC, then I don't think it's worth the purchase. They don't even sell GCs here...
