This is to shine a little light on anything that may seem uncertain about the Mother 4 Fangame.
Mother 4's lead staff comes from the EarthBound fansite Starmen.net, where the accused cult-fanbase of EarthBound and the Mother series make their collective nest.
I am the Writer of Mother 4's storyline, working with Chaisu
on storyline development. As of right now (Jun 17, 09), Our site at dcmsoftware.net is off-limits to the public, but will soon be unveiled with a trailer and limited amount of publicly available content.
In General, Mother 4 is an under-wraps project, and updates will not be very specific. Music and screenshots are the most common form of update, as the story is to remain almost entirely classified until M4's Final release.
At this point, Mother 4 is early in development, but is coming strong.
A brief overview:
Storyline: We have a detailed outline of our storyline, and a good 15 percent of the main story written out. Writing is an interesting affair with Mother 4, as two innovative and passionate minds work side-by-side to generate the most captivating story possible. Rewrites are commonly and carefully executed, so updates in this category will surely be interesting.
Gameplay/Engine: When most projects die, it's because the creator bites off more than he can chew. The engine is often one of the major killing factors of such an unfortunate incident. Our programmer, TheDave is very talented, and at this point we have funtioning movement, dashing, combat, menus, and more. The engine only gets better by the day, and as it is now, is suitable for a game such as Mother 4.
Spirits: The entire lead staff of Mother 4 has a cult-level love for the Mother series, and takes work on Mother 4 very passionately. We will not be losing interest in our project.

Wow! Never thought I'd see this here! You probably haven't seen to much of me around, but I use Starmen.net too! Couldn't beleive it when I saw this project here! I remembered reading about it on Starmen.net. You might remember my project Motherworld http://www.create-games.com/project.asp?id=1222
It's on Starmen.net too! I don't use Gamemaker but if you need any help with anything besides GM programming, I'd be happy to lend a hand!
